£100M Striker Would Bring Goals Arsenal, Gunners Make Offer Sign Forward, £83M Star Tipped Prem Move
Here is a roundup of the top Arsenal news, gossip and transfer latest from icfootballnews that we think you guys could have missed today…
Arsenal have seen an opening bid of £46m rejected out of hand for Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran, as they look to sign a striker in the January window in order to keep their Premier League title hopes alive after a few weeks of poor performances.
Duran stunned Liverpool with a late double in Villa’s final home match of last season and the striker has picked up where he left off this term, scoring six goals in his opening 11 appearances in all competitions. The likes of Chelsea and West Ham were linked with Duran in the summer and the forward’s eye-catching form in front of goal has put a number top teams around Europe on alert, according to AS Colombia.
The report claims ARSENAL and Barcelona have both asked about the possibility of signing Duran this winter and Villa have been unequivocal with their response: he will be going nowhere for anything less than £80 million.
Troy Deeney recently claimed ARSENAL ‘need’ a striker like Jhon Duran to achieve their ambitions: ‘You see with Ollie Watkins now that his game has risen. At the start of the season, Ollie was pretty poor, missed a lot of chances,’ the ex-Watford captain said on CBS Sports.
‘But they’ve got this guy [Duran] in the background, “Hold on, who is this kid? He shouldn’t be doing that!”, and now he keeps going, he keeps going.
‘He’s just got a massive contract… whether that’s to keep him or whether that’s to sell him, that’s for different people to talk about.
‘But for me, if I’m Chelsea or ARSENAL, that’s the type of striker I need.’
He added: ‘He’s young, arrogant, ignorant and he can get away with it. Every time he scores he says, “What more do you want me to do?”, but it’s about having good pros around him to get hold of him and say, “Listen, young man…”.
‘I’ve been there, I’ve made more mistakes than most people. You make a lot of mistakes, you think you’re the man, you think you know it all.
‘But once you get to 22, 23, 24, people just go, “Oh, we’ve figured him out now”, and that’s what he has to understand now.
‘At the moment, if he doesn’t score, it doesn’t matter because Ollie Watkins does.
‘But if he wants to fill the big-boy shoes, be the No.9 for whatever team he plays for, there is an expectation that you have to score 20-odd goals every single season and every single game. That’s completely different.’
GYOKERES TIPPED FOR MOVE
Viktor Gyokeres – a top transfer target for Manchester United and ARSENAL – would ‘definitely’ be a success at Chelsea, says former Blues star John Obi-Mikel, as the rumours continue to swirl regarding the gifted striker.
Gyokeres has once again been in tremendous form for Sporting Lisbon this season and already has 23 goals to his name, with four of those coming in the Champions League against Defending champions Manchester City.
He has been heavily tipped with a move to the Premier League, with many believing that he could follow Ruben Amorim to Man United, while it has been claimed that Arsenal are very much interested as they seek to add a 30 goals a season striker to their attack.
But asked on his Obi One Podcast if he thought the striker would be a success at Chelsea, with some reports claiming that the Blues have already made contact with the players representatives, the former midfielder replied: ‘Definitely. For me, he is a Premier League player, he’s a player that suits the Premier League.
‘He has every attribute to be a Premier League player, strong, big, quick, and most importantly goalscoring.
‘He can score goals and when you look at it, his goal scoring ratio is better than any striker right now in Europe, the stats are there to back it up.
‘He has been absolutely fantastic. Scoring three goals against Man City, you don’t hear that often. He has been fantastic and looks a little bit like [Erling] Haaland.’

When Gyokeres decides to leave Lisbon and make that next step in his career, it seems that he will have a few clubs to choose from and the decision will come down to him, and or course, money.
There is so much speculation over the lad that all clubs know that he will cost some serious money, Chelsea can beat off most clubs, but it will be interesting to see where he ends up guys.
The Premier League will be the biggest test of his ability that is for sure.
OSIMHEN BRINGS GOALS
TNT Sports pundit Eni Aluko has come out and claimed that Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen would guarantee you goals, with constant reports that ARSENAL are still keen on adding the striker to their attack at some point.
Despite all the speculation, despite all the hype, despite all the potential excitement from Gunners fans, Arsenal did not want to pay his massive asking price and in the end, the Blues missed out on getting the big Nigerian star and he eventually made his way to Galatasaray.
Osimhen reminded his former and current suitors of his goalscoring prowess on Thursday night, finding the net against Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Europa League, although he missed alot of chances to add to his two goals against the Premier League side.
Now, amid all the speculation and rumours, TNT Sports pundit Eni Aluko believes that Premier League sides should be exploring the possibility of signing the striker permanently from Napoli. The Nigerian has netted four goals in five domestic games for Galatasaray.
The TNT Sports expert said: “He’s guaranteed goals. Even though he’s fallen out with Napoli. He scores goals. He’s great in the air, a physical presence. He’s a sort of throwback.
“He’ll always run down the centre. He’s not interested in coming deep. He’ll go down the gut of teams. He just wants to get in the box and he dominates. He wants that contact with defenders.
“I actually respect the fact that he’s not gone to Saudi Arabia, because I think he could’ve done. But I think he knows that he can still play at the highest level.
“And ultimately I think what makes a lot of these players is their character, that bit of maverick about them.
“So I think an Arsenal or a Chelsea should be looking at him. ARSENAL in particular, who’ve got goalscoring problems.”

Osimhen is a goal-scorer that is a fact, but against Tottenham he missed chances that he should not have and although he will add goals, it seems like he will need alot of chances to put those chances away.
For the right price he will be a good signing for clubs.
