Chelsea closing in on signing of £300k-a-week deadline say signing for just £40 million
Manchester United and Chelsea are now in discussions over a loan with obligation to buy for Jadon Sancho, as the Blues close in on a stunning deal for the former Borussia Dortmund star.
Sancho has fallen out of favour at United after a public spat with manager Erik ten Hag, who remained in charge after winning the FA Cup, and the winger spent the second half of last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund and played in the Champions League final.
According to reports in Italy, Manchester United have been offering the England international out and are looking to make a profit, and a number of clubs have been offered the chance to sign the 24-year-old, including CHELSEA.
The fee being discussed is £40 million for the England winger, and Speaking earlier on talkSPORT, Alex Crook provided the latest on Sancho’s situation.
He said: “This is a really intriguing situation, because we know that Manchester United have been actively trying to move him on, despite the fact that he made that, what I would call an ‘uneasy truce’ with Erik ten Hag.
“Because he made peace with his manager but still hasn’t featured in the first two games of the season, so I think it’s pretty clear that while Ten Hag is in situ, Jadon Sancho doesn’t have a role at Manchester United.
“Juventus, up until 48 hours ago, were the most advanced, now we’re being told Chelsea are advancing in a deal.
“It would be a loan. Manchester United sources have told me they are willing to look at loan offers, but I think they would want some kind of guarantee, some kind of obligation to buy.
“But I just don’t see what sense this makes for CHELSEA. From a Manchester United perspective it’s brilliant, get him off the wage books, get him out of the dressing room, because he’s not going to play.
“But where does he fit in at Chelsea? When you look at the number of wide players they’ve got, if he’s going to play out wide, he can play in the number 10, but they’ve got a team of number 10s. I just don’t get it from Chelsea’s perspective.
“I think this move is being driven by Joe Shields, who is Chelsea’s director of professional football, and scout. He played a big part in the Manchester City youth academy and obviously Chelsea have got Cole Palmer there already.
“So I think maybe he feels that he can get the best out of Sancho, because of course he started his youth career at City.”
