£44m ANNOUNCEMENT means Chelsea will complete signing of brilliant attacker
The confirmed sale of Joao Felix to Saudi Arabia now means that Chelsea will close in on the signing of RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons, a player the club have been working hard to sign over the past few weeks.
Felix is one of a number of players Chelsea have put up for sale this summer along with the likes of Christopher Nkunku, Raheem Sterling and Nicolas Jackson.
Felix and Chelsea had been in advanced talks with Benfica but the 25-year-old, as the Portuguese giants wanted him back at the club, but he has snubbed his boyhood club in favour of a move to Saudi Arabia.
By joining Al Nassr – in a deal worth around £44m – Felix will link up with his international teammate Cristiano Ronaldo in Saudi and will reportedly earn around the £400k-a-week mark.
And now that deal has been confirmed, Chelsea will look to wrap up the signing of Xavi Simons for the same kind of fee they have just sold Felix for.
Simons is no longer keen to stay in the Bundesliga, he wants to make that step up in the game and play for one of the big clubs, with many reports in the media claiming that a move to Chelsea is one that he would like to make.
IcFootballnews Says…
Simons is a brilliantly gifted football, he would be a great signing for Chelsea, if he was needed. But with all those stars in the squad already, SImons would really struggle to make the impact that many fans would like.
If he is ready for the fight at CHELSEA, he would be a great signing, but Enzo Maresca is loyal to his players and the Dutchman will have to work very hard to make an impact.
But he is far better than Joao Felix
