£50 million signing will be an Arsenal success ahead of imminent announcement

arsenal, ben white

Tony Cascarino has backed Ben White to succeed at Arsenal under Mikel Arteta.

There is no doubt that Mikel Arteta wants to add to that back-line this transfer window and find an immediate replacement for the departed David Luiz, who failed to agree a new contract with the club

That led to many, and we mean many, reports in the media that Ben White had become the Gunners number one transfer target this summer

The 23-year-old completed his first full season in the top flight last season, and made his England debut in the process, and while he has much to prove at the top of the game, there are many that feel that he as the ability to make a real impact at the Emirates

The latest reports have claimed that Arsenal have agreed a £50 million fee for White, he has agreed a five-year contract at the Emirates, but he will not complete his medical until after his holidays.

But ahead of his impending move to Arsenal, Cascarino has opened up and suggested that White will be a massive success at the Emirates as he has all the qualities as a defender to play anywhere in that back-line

He told talkSPORT: “He’s a very versatile defender, who ticks the box of can you play him in different positions, can you play him in a four and in a three? Most certainly so.

“I watched him at Leeds and Brighton and I think they’re getting a very accomplished player of a certain age.”

We are massive fans of Ben White and firmly believe that he will develop into one of the very best defenders in the Premier League. So the fact that Arsenal are prepared to pay big money and get this deal done, is a massive statement

He will be a fantastic signing for the club guys
