£50m man addresses rumours he could make Arsenal move, Gunners holding positive talks to sign midfielder, Arteta told to sign Prem defender, Arsenal interested in FREE AGENT,
Arsenal urged to sign Coady, Arsenal holding Neves talks, Calhanoglu a Gunners target and Mahrez addresses Arsenal rumours in Arsenal roundup…
Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez has quashed any rumours linking him with a shock move to Arsenal this summer.
The Algerian was touted as a potential target for Mikel Arteta – whom he worked with during the latter’s time as Pep Guardiola’s assistant, as there has been some reports in the media that City are looking to let him leave the club.
The Gunners were also strongly linked with a move for the winger during his Leicester days before he joined the Premier League champions, and it was said Arsenal could reignite their interest as they look to add a bit more quality to the squad.
Arteta is a man that knows he is lacking serious quality in key areas of the pitch and considering Mahrez is one of the very best in the Premier League, a £50 million move has been mooted in the media.
But amid all the speculation that Arsenal are very much interested in a transfer deal, Mahrez has reaffirmed his commitment to the Sky Blues following his nation’s 1-0 victory against Mali.
He told DZ Sport: “There is nothing about my future. I am well in Manchester. I will stay God willing.”
Even though Mahrez wants to stay at the club, the rumours in the media are there for a reason and if the right offer comes in from Arsenal, or any other club in Europe, we are certain that City would be open to selling.
But He is the type of player that Arsenal need to be signing, it is just a shame that they will not have the money to get those kind of deals done right?
Arsenal are holding talks about a possible deal for Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves, as Granit Xhaka looks set for an exit
Xhaka is keen for a new challenge after five years at Arsenal and would like for things to be sorted ahead of the start of the European Championship, so he can focus purely on international matters with Switzerland.
Arsenal have yet to accept an offer from Roma for Xhaka, but sources at the north London club are confident that discussions are now heading in the right direction.
The Gunners want around £20 million ($28m) for the 28-year-old midfielder, who has two years remaining on his contract.
And according to reports in the Daily Express website The Gunners are interested in Neves at Wolves, with talks having taken place about the Portugal international, however, he is not Arsenal’s only target, with his £35m ($49m) price tag a potential sticking point.
Wolves are open to selling Neves, who has two years left on his contract, and talks between the two clubs over a potential deal will accelerate once Xhaka’s exit is finalised.
We believe that Arsenal should definitely let Xhaka leave the club as he does not bring anything to that Arsenal midfield, so the news that he could be leaving will not shock many Gunners fans.
And if they can secure a transfer deal for Neves, he would be a brilliant signing for the club as he has proven to be a very effective Premier League star for Wolves over the past few seasons.
Sol Campbell has urged Arsenal to sign Wolves defender Conor Coady in the summer transfer window.
Arsenal finished eighth in the Premier League for the second successive season in 2020-21, with Arteta ultimately unable to build on their FA Cup triumph last term.
That means that Mikel Arteta will need to spend some serious money in the coming transfer window to add players that will improve the weakest areas of the pitch that will allow the club to get back into that top four spot next season.
And amid speculation that Arteta is looking to add a new defender to the squad, The former Gunners star says that the Wolves centre-back has the mental strength and defensive nous to add a new dimension to Arteta’s line-up.
Campbell told Ladbrokes: “There’s a lot of players out there who can fit the Arsenal mould. Conor Coady is a good player; he’s comfortable on the ball, he’s a winner.
“He’s definitely got the kind of mentality Arsenal should be looking at in new players. He’s definitely someone they should look at because he’s so solid, he wants to defend.
“He can pass as well, he’s quick, he’s strong, he’s good in the air. He’s a good all-rounder and he’s got a bit about him.
“He’s at a good club now in Wolves, but he’s actually someone I’d be looking at for Arsenal this summer. He’s got a great attitude as well, and I like that.”
There is no doubt that Arsenal need to improve that midfield in the transfer window, so if they managed to secure a transfer deal for Coady, he would be a very good signing for the club
Arsenal are reportedly considering making an offer for AC Milan star Hakan Calhanoglu if they miss out on Martin Odegaard.
Arsenal are waiting to hear whether the 22-year-old Dane features in Carlo Ancelotti’s first-team plans next season after they failed to open talks and get a more permanent deal done for the talented young man.
But that is not the end of the rumours, as Arsenal are very keen to keep hold of Odegaard and are hoping that Ancelotti allows him to leave in the transfer window, although the Gunners will have to pay around £40 million to get a deal done.
But according to CBS Sports reporter James Benge, the Londoners have shortlisted an alternative in Calhanoglu, 27, who will be out of contract at Milan in the summer transfer window, He posted on Twitter: “Arsenal still retain strong interest in Martin Odegaard.
“What sort of deal can be done there [if any] will depend on decision of new Real Madrid coaching staff and Florentino Perez.
“Another target who Arsenal are understood to have broached internally is Hakan Calhanoglu, out of contract with AC Milan this summer.
“He is an option, not clear how high on the list he might be but expectation is he’s an alternative to Odegaard.”
There is so much speculation in the media about players that Arsenal wants to sign, but if they do not add Odegaard to the side in the summer, Calhanoglu is a player that has proven himself at the very highest level of the game, so would be a real transfer bargain if the Gunners could get him for free
