According to Charles Watts, Osimhen joining Arsenal in the summer may not be a swoop that the club should look forward to.

It is no secret that Arsenal have been eyeing a move for Osimhen even before Mikel Arteta took over as boss – but have been unable to get a deal done as Napoli had no intention of letting him leave.

The transfer speculation has continued this season as ARSENAL FC were still keen to sign a big-time striker – but with the financial fair play rules catching everybody out – no deals have really been done this month.

The 25-year-old penned a new deal in Naples in December, but it is said to include a release clause of £112m – and it now looks like Napoli are willing to cash in on the star after he admitted that he would like to move on.

However – amid all the speculation and rumours – Watts has opened up and sent a surprise message to the Gunners about a potential deal for the Nigerian superstar.

“It will be interesting to see whether they move for Victor Osimhen,” Watts admitted to Caught Offside. “He, like Toney, is a player they like and I know that his representatives have visited Arsenal’s training ground for talks with Edu.

“Those talks took place in the summer when Arsenal eventually signed Gabriel Jesus. Jesus was always the priority that year, but Osimhen was definitely a player they viewed as a serious alternative.

“That interest will remain, but the Nigerian could prove to be too costly an option in a summer given Arsenal want to spread their budget around as they look to take the squad to the next level.”

IVAN TONEY MESSAGE SENT – 

Arsenal legend Lee Dixon believes Arsenal need a new striker – but is unsure whether Ivan Toney fits the bill.

ARSENAL FC-linked Toney, 27, has been flying with Brentford since his ban ended in January and is now back in the England squad after impressing over the past few weeks with his performances for Brentford.

But ex-England right-back Dixon told BetVictor: “The attacking players have moved around and how they’ve played with false nines with Kai Havertz or Leandro Trossard down the middle.

“Mikel Arteta will definitely be looking for a new striker in the summer,” Dixon said.

“Ivan Toney is a name that’s hot on everyone’s lips at the moment… but would he fit in at Arsenal? I’m still trying to work that one out myself!

“There’s lots of good things about him, but the way he plays, Brentford play a very different style to Arsenal… Would he fit into that position at Arsenal? I’m not so sure he would.

“Arsenal do need to strengthen in that position, they have to keep getting better and stronger, as if the goals dry up elsewhere then they need somebody that can guarantee goals.

“I think they will bring someone in in that department this summer.”

Ivan Toney is one of the best in the Premier League – he really is a player that all the big clubs are very much interested in signing – so if he is on the market – we are sure that ARSENAL FC will make a move.

He would be a signing that would offer the attack something different that the club already have – so it will be interesting to see if Mikel Arteta listens to what Dixon has to say.

BEN WHITE DEAL ANNOUNCED – 

Ben White has said his new contract with Arsenal is “perfect” after extending his stay at the Emirates Stadium.

Since his move from Brighton just a few seasons ago – White has developed into a player that Mikel Arteta can really rely on and a star that has the ability to play in a couple of positions.

White’s previous deal at ARSENAL was up in 2026 – but the Gunners were keen to make sure that he is rewarded for the good performances he has put in that Arsenal shirt and the club werre desperate to make sure a deal got done.

Now Ben White’s has agreed that new contract with the Gunners and he has admitted that is new contract with Arsenal ‘is perfect’ – he told the club website: ‘I’m so happy – it’s been a long journey, and amazing to sign again and be here for more years.

I’ve said before I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else, so it’s perfect.

Ben White has been impressive since his move to the Emirates and we are certain that a deal will be done sooner rather than later, as everyone wants to get it wrapped up.

And there are not too many ARSENAL fans out there that will be against his getting that deal as the defender has been a brilliant addition to the side and a man that the club can really rely on.
