£60M star ‘EXPECTED’ to complete Man United move this summer!

Manchester United are reportedly set to make a major midfield signing this summer with Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba expected to complete an £80 million move to Old Trafford, according to TeamTalk sources. The deal could mark the first major addition in United’s planned midfield overhaul ahead of the 2026-27 season.

The 22-year-old Cameroonian has emerged as a priority target for Manchester United as they look to replace departing stars in the heart of their midfield. With long-time defensive anchor Casemiro poised to leave when his contract expires, and midfielder Manuel Ugarte reportedly set to be sold amid interest from clubs abroad, United are expected to invest heavily in rejuvenating their engine room.

United’s recruitment strategy appears to centre around adding both quality and versatility in central areas, and Baleba has been identified as a player capable of providing energy, ball progression and defensive balance.

Sources say that United have earmarked around £80 m specifically for a marquee midfield signing — with Baleba now “most likely” to be that priority signing according to TeamTalk.

Baleba’s performances for Brighton this season have attracted interest from several top clubs, and his dynamic box-to-box style has been praised for its blend of athleticism and technical ability in midfield. Despite a period earlier in the campaign where his form dipped amid transfer speculation, the Cameroon international remains highly rated across the Premier League.

Brighton, renowned for developing young talent and selling at a profit, have been willing to negotiate over Baleba’s future but have previously held out for significant fees.

Past reports suggested that Brighton had valued the midfielder at well over £100 m, though United’s steadfast pursuit and the player’s openness to a move have seen negotiations gain traction ahead of the summer window.

The pending transfer, if completed, would represent one of Manchester United’s most significant summer moves and underline the club’s broader strategy under its new sporting hierarchy. With Champions League football secured for next season, the Red Devils are planning to spend up to £150 m on multiple midfield reinforcements — including potential targets beyond Baleba — to ensure depth and competitiveness across all competitions.

A deal for Baleba would also signal a shift toward building a younger, more balanced midfield core, complementing existing talents like Kobbie Mainoo and providing competition and cover in crucial central roles.

Sources suggest personal terms between United and Baleba are unlikely to be a stumbling block, with the midfielder reportedly keen on a move to one of England’s most storied clubs.

As the summer transfer window approaches, all eyes will be on Old Trafford to see whether Manchester United can finalise the Baleba move, and how it will fit into a broader recruitment strategy that could redefine the club’s midfield for years to come
