It has again been claimed that Atletico Madrid have held talks with Chelsea about a possible deal for Conor Gallagher.

According to talkSPORT, the Spanish side have had discussions with Chelsea about signing the England international, who is out of contract next summer. The report adds the 24-year-old has not been offered a new deal and Tottenham, Aston Villa and more are still interested in the ex-Crystal Palace loanee.

Reports have claimed Atletico knows Gallagher will do everything he can to facilitate a transfer as he reportedly wants the move. However, they will have to up their opening offer, as Chelsea reputedly rejected a bid below £17 million for the player.

Ex-CHELSEA midfielder Andy Townsend has says Enzo Maresca should do everything he can to keep Conor Gallagher at Chelsea

‘I thought Conor Gallagher had a really good season,’ Townsend recently said on talkSPORT. ‘I thought he played some really good stuff.

‘He was good on loan at Crystal Palace and I think he added more to his game last season. His partnership with Moises Caicedo is much better than the Enzo [Fernandez] one.

‘I would love to think that Maresca could say to the hierarchy, “please don’t sell him, I need him and desperately want him to stay”. I think he played really well and deserves to stay.’

Gallagher was very solid for CHELSEA last season and to be honest – the club would be massive fools to let him depart Stamford Bridge over the next few months.

So event though there has been alot of rumours about the future of Gallagher – we believe that he should stay and be given another season to prove himself at the club.

But if he does make the move to Madrid – it will be a quality switch to make

MAGUIRE TOLD JOIN CHELSEA –

Joining Chelsea would be a “great move” for Harry Maguire if he leaves Man United, according to reporter Iomie Stanley

After a very disappointing season in that Man United shirt last season – in which Maguire has fallen down the pecking order – the England International is a man that could be leaving Manchester this summer

That has led to all sorts of speculation surrounding the immediate future of Maguire – with claims in the media which have suggested that Chelsea are now very much interested in a potential deal for the defender, who is valued at £50 million.

Amid all the speculation and the rumours – CHELSEA have been told that the right offer for Maguire will see the United star make a move, as he does not want to be sitting on the bench.

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –

When asked if Maguire would get game time at Stamford Bridge, Stanley said: “Chelsea is full on, they are an attacking team and they push on a bit like Celtic and Maguire does not have the pace to get back.

“It would be a great move for him if he could get that done. But the Chelsea board have a plan of action that does not involve signing players over a certain age – unless they will bring someting to the club

“Would Chelsea want him? I do not know. Maresca wants them to push and close players down, I do not know if that is Maguire’s game.“

COULD CHELSEA REALLY SIGN MAGUIRE?

The immediate answer is Yes – they are looking to add another defender to that back line and if they can get Maguire for the right money – he could be a solid defender.

He is not a bad defender and hardly makes big mistakes – so it was very easy to see why they were linked with a transfer move.

But £50 million is alot to pay for a man that wont be a regular starter for CHELSEA that is for sure.

JOHNSON WANTS WATKINS AT CHELSEA –

Ex-Blues star Glen Johnson has claimed that he would love to see Aston Villa star Ollie Watkins join Chelsea.

Watkins has a deal at Aston Villa until 2028 but has been linked with a move away, and although CHELSEA‘s hunt for a striker has gone quiet in recent weeks – according to Football Insider, Palmer has been trying to get Watkins to join him at Stamford Bridge.

Johnson told Betfred: “If he got the opportunity to sign for Chelsea I think he’d bite their arm off.

“Aston Villa had a great season and qualified for the Champions League, but Chelsea’s still Chelsea and I’m sure they’ll bounce back. Ollie would definitely improve them and I can definitely see that deal happening.

“I can see reasons for why he’d stay at Villa and for why he’d move to CHELSEA. He didn’t get a lot of gametime at the Euros but when he got onto the pitch, England looked like a better team.”

Stephen Warnock recently warned Ollie Watkins about leaving Aston Villa – Warnock told BetVictor: ‘What he’s got to be careful of is that he’s the number one guy at Villa now and being the main man is vitally important. He likes having that pressure on him to perform well.

‘If he goes somewhere else, he may not quite fit in, he might not settle and the new manager’s philosophy could be a different style of football.

‘The question is whether he wants medals and to try and win the Premier League. Would he go to Chelsea for that? Would he go to Arsenal, Manchester City or Liverpool? I’m not so sure he would. I could see him moving to Arsenal, but I don’t see him going to City or Liverpool.’
