£63 million rated James announcement opens door to summer Arsenal switch
Bayern Munich midfielder and Arsenal target James Rodriguez has admitted he could leave Bayern Munich in the summer.
Rodriguez, who has been a regular starter for Bayern this season, is on a two-year loan spell from Real Madrid after failing to establish himself at the Bernabeu, but there has been some speculation that he could end up in the Premier League next season.
Arsenal have been chasing the Colombian all season and were reportedly trying to get a deal done during the January transfer window, but a deal was complicated and Rodriguez stayed put in order to fight for his long-term future with the Bundesliga Champions.
However, he has a €37m (£32.2m) release clause in his contract with his loan due to finish in May and he has admitted that he will see what happens in the summer in regards to his future.
“I have to think hard about what I’m doing [in terms of my future],” he told Cadena SER.
“In Madrid, I have everything such as my house and people who love me. We will have to see what happens, but at the moment I have a contract with Bayern Munich.
“I just want to finish the season and we’ll see what happens. I keep in touch with some Madrid players.”
Could Arsenal tempt James to England?
If things do not work out for James at Bayern for the remainder of the season, then yes Arsenal could sign the Colombian in the summer for a small fee as he is not longer worth the £80 million Real Madrid paid just a few seasons ago.
However, there will be alot of clubs chasing the Colombian star and Arsenal will need to move quickly to secure any potential deal, which is something they have a problem with.
Arsenal could tempt James, the question is whther they will make the move.
