Mason Mount quizzed on the possible Chelsea signing of £400k-a-week star

Chelsea star Mason Mount has been quizzed on all the speculation that Cristiano Ronaldo could be heading to Stamford Bridge after being let go by Manchester United

Ronaldo hit the headlines just a few weeks ago after he done a TV interview with Piers Morgan which ultimately described his unhappiness at being back at the club and how he does not feel valued by the Red Devils and boss Erik Ten Hag.

That made Man United to move quickly to find a way to get Ronaldo out of the club and on Tuesday evening – they announced that he would not longer be a Red Devil any longer

A club statement read: “Cristiano Ronaldo is to leave Manchester United by mutual agreement, with immediate effect.

“The club thanks him for his immense contribution across two spells at Old Trafford, scoring 145 goals in 346 appearances, and wishes him and his family well for the future.

“Everyone at Manchester United remains focused on continuing the team’s progress under Erik ten Hag and working together to deliver success on the pitch.”

Issuing his own statement, Ronaldo said: “Following conversations with Manchester United we have mutually agreed to end our contract early.

“I love Manchester United and I love the fans, that will never ever change. However, it feels like the right time for me to seek a new challenge.

“I wish the team every success for the remainder of the season and for the future.”

That has led to alot of speculation that Chelsea would be the next destination for the Portuguese star as Ted Boehly is a massive fan – and Chelsea are in need of signing a natural goal-scorer.

Mason Mount could potentially be a team-mate of Ronaldo from January and he was quizzed on the possible signing of the Portuguese star – although he admitted he is not even thinking about that right now.

He said:“Listen, I’m away with international and England at the moment so that’s all I’m focusing on.

“I’ve just played my first World Cup game, I’m not really thinking about too much else. I’m away with England.”
