76-goal star wants join Man United, United tipped to make £100M move, Amorim told sign Bundesliga star

Here is a roundup of the top Manchester United news, gossip and transfer latest from icfootballnews that we think you may have missed today…

Former Red Devils striker Teddy Sheringham has tipped Manchester United to make a late minute transfer move for Newcastle United star Alexander Isak, as he would be perfect for the club.

Isak, who has scored 15 goals in the Premier League this season and 16 in his last 17 appearances in all competitions has been linked with a move to one of the big clubs for the last few transfer windows, as many have tipped him to become one of the best in Europe,

Newcastle are reluctant to sell their star man and have put a massive £100 million asking price on the Swedish star, but despite that, Sheringham has opened up and tipped united to make a move for thee Toon star: ‘I wouldn’t be surprised to see two big January signings at Manchester United,’ Sheringham told BoyleSports.

‘I think United need to rebuild, but it’s hard to get big names and proper players in the January window.

‘I think it’s a time to work in the background and look for players to start next season. I’d like to see big signings but it’s going to be difficult.

Manchester United just need an overall upgrade. They have good players but not top players. People were picking combined XIs with Liverpool last week with not a single United player in there.

‘That is unheard of when you think about the last 30 years. When top players became available, United used to go out and break the bank to get them.

‘That isn’t the case at the moment. There is a massive rebuilding job to do.’ Would Alexander Isak consider joining United if a bid came in? Without a doubt. I’m not saying a deal will get done but he would be the perfect signing for United.

‘He can lead the line and score goals and could be a statement signing for the new regime. He is full of confidence at the moment and could lead by example.’

GYOKERES PREFERS MAN UNITED

Manchester United will be Viktor Gyokeres’ “preferred transfer destination” when he decides to leave Sporting Lisbon, claims the Swedish striker’s former Brighton team-mate Glenn Murray.

With 76 goals recorded through 81 appearances for Portuguese giants Sporting, the 26-year-old has become one of the most sought-after talents in world football and a player that Man United are very much interested in signing.

Despite all the attacking talent that Ruben Amorim has at United, the Red Devils have really struggled to score the amount of goals that the Portuguese boss would like and they are still sitting in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

Gyokeres is a man that Amorim wants, and amid the speculation, Murray has opened up and claimed that a move to Manchester United is something that the Sporting striker would like – Murray has now told 10bet: “Viktor, he was a young lad at the club and was he up to the level? Well, the manager didn’t think he was up to the level.

‘We were in a squad where we were in survival mode, and you couldn’t really bring lads in to develop them. In all honesty, it was one of those situations where he made that hard decision to leave the Premier League and in hindsight, it was the right decision to leave.

“You could always see there was a player in there, but at that point in time he was playing off the left. He liked coming in off the left and shooting. He was never really an out-and-out nine.

‘I’m not sure if that’s because Aaron Connolly was in the same age group as him and he was the one that was doing really well at that moment. I’m not sure if Viktor preferred it or he kind of got shunted out to the left. But you could see that there was a desire and a hunger and the capability for him to become a full-time professional player and make it in the game.”

“He’s smashed every question down so far, so he definitely deserves his chance in the Premier League, and I think with his confidence and ability he would be a success. Did I see it coming what has happened? Probably not. It just shows what belief in yourself, other people’s belief and confidence can do for you.

“I think the way he’s worked it and what he’s done, it’s pretty much the perfect blueprint for any young professional that might not be ripe to burst into the Premier League. Let’s face it, very, very few are at such a tender age.

“To have a few loans, to go out to Coventry, which was the right fit for him, and the team was built around him to score goals, and then the move to Sporting. When you go to a league like that, you’ve been backed. They paid a lot of money for you, you’re going to get your time, you’re going to get your chance.

“He’s taken it with both hands and now the next step is one of the big leagues in Europe. Hopefully that is the Premier League. Obviously, with his old manager being here, its quite likely that if he does decide to come here, Manchester United are going to be his preferred destination.”

UNITED TOLD SIGN SESKO

Manchester United have been told that they need to splash the cash on a striker like Benjamin Sesko, a player that has been linked to the Premier League for the past few seasons.

So many names were linked with a move to  Old Trafford in the summer window, including the impressive Sesko, but in the end, Erik Ten Hag made the decision to bring in Joshua Zirkzee.

But that Man United attack has not started the new season the way that Ten Hag and now Ruben Amorim would like – meaning that Man United may have to delve into that transfer kitty once again in a bid to sign a striker like Sesko.

The Slovenian international signed a new contract with RB Leipzig in the summer and has already begun the season very well. He is a player that Arsenal have been linked with for the last few windows, and are expected to make a move for at the end of the season.

Now, amid all the speculation about what players Man United could sign, former star Dwight Yorke has opened up and encouraged to sign a striker like Sesko – Speaking to CoinCasino, Dwight Yorke said: “Man United don’t need Bryan Mbeumo, he’s another winger, they need another striker. I would love it if Man United went and signed Benjamin Sesko.

“I watched him play recently and he’s a great profile. He’s similar to Alexander Isak but probably cheaper. Sesko has a great presence up front, he’s a big striker with an incredible shot on him.

“He’s mobile too, which Man United need. Sesko would be my ideal signing for Man United. He’s a proper number nine…”

If Manchester United get Sesko this January window, he would be a brilliant signing for the club, it is that simple.
