Agent opens up and reveals how Tottenham beat Manchester United to summer signing of Bale

The agent of Gareth Bale has revealed how Tottenham managed to beat the likes of Manchester United to the stars signature.

Bale has been in the headlines alot over the past 12 months and has been constantly linked with a move away from Madrid having fallen out of favour with coach Zinedine Zidane, and a move back to the Premier League was always mooted.

Manchester United were believed to be one of those keen on Bale with reports suggesting that they were planning to make a move having given up on the chase to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund for £100 million.

However, Jonathan Barnett said once Spurs were interested, the 31-year-old’s mind was made up, he was quoted on the TalkSport website “He had other choices but Tottenham is his love, he loves Tottenham and at the end of the day that’s the one he wanted.

“It’s good to see him happy.

“If he was going to move this summer, it was only to somewhere where he could smile again and be happy, he wasn’t just going to move for the sake of it.

“We had other clubs, maybe bigger clubs than Tottenham, interested, but he had to happy with where he went and I think he is now.”

Bale is a superstar and can produce at the top level, but there are some concerns about his fitness and whether ort not he still has the hunger and desire to compete at the very top of the game under a manager like Jose Mourinho.

He is a big signing for Tottenham and fans will be hoping that he is the right one.
