Alderweireld announces he could leave Spurs, £40m Pavon deal asn Inter to ‘cash in’ on target in Arsenal Wednesday news and gossip
Here is the daily roundup of Arsenal news, gossip and transfer talk from icfootballnews.
Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld has alerted a number of Premier League sides to a possible summer deal, after announcing he could leave in the summer.
Alderweireld is regarded as one of the best central defenders in the Premier League and has been a mainstay in Mauricio Pochettino’s side, helping Spurs continue to play in the Champions League and challenge for the Premier League title.
But over the past twelve months there has been constant speculation in the media that he could leave the club, with many reports suggesting that Tottenham do not want to pay him the kind of wages that he is demanding, which are believed to be around the £150,000-a-week mark.
And that has led to speculation that the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are just a few of the many clubs that are interested in securing his signature at the end of the season, as all three still need to improve their back-lines in the coming transfer windows.
Now the Belgium international said his only focus is on ensuring Spurs end their season well, but does not know if he will be at the club next season.
He told Sky Sports News: “There’s a lot to play for this season. And in the end I have a year contract left at Spurs, so I don’t look further than this season.
“Other things I don’t know. I am very happy at Spurs, so we will see what the future brings.
“I still feel very fit. I think I played a lot of minutes this season so I showed that I am fit – I don’t feel 30, I feel younger.
“So as I said, I am very happy and I just try to watch game-by-game. This season there is a lot to play for so I will give my best for that.”
Fresh reports have claimed Arsenal are lining up a summer move for Argentine striker Christian Pavon at the end of the season.
Its is no secret that Emery is trying to build a side that is capable of getting back into the Champions League and then pushing on and challenging for the Premier League title, and a number of signings will be expected to arrive in the summer.
He has already signed up Bern Leno, Stephen Lichsteiner, Sokratis, Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira, but is looking to add another winger to his squad that will give him pace and ability to take players on.
And he had hoped to complete his transfer business in the summer with the signing of Pavon, who had an impressive World Cup for Argentina, despite their early exit from the competition, but despite the admiring looks from the Gunners, Pavon decided to stay put at Boca Juniors over the summer and signed a new five-year deal that will keep him at the club until 2023.
However, Arsenal remain interested in a move for Boca Juniors striker Pavon, according to Football London website, and reports suggest that Emery will look to step up his chase in the summer if they miss out on Cengiz Under and Ismaila Sarr.
There has been some fresh reports which have claimed Inter Milan are keen to offload Arsenal and Tottenham target Ivan Perisic at the end of the season.
Arsenal are currently chasing a Champions League spot ahead of the summer transfer window as they seek to challenge for the Premier League title once more in the coming transfer window, and have been linked with a move for Perisic.
Perisic is regarded as one of the best wingers in Europe right now and has been lined with a possible move to the Premier League after suggesting that he is ready to test himself outside of Seria A and in one of the top three Leagues in world football.
The 30-year-old was on Tottenham’s wishlist during the January transfer window if reports are to be believed, but Spurs could simply not convince Inter to let their player leave half way through the season.
But with reports suggesting that Arsenal are ready to delve into their transfer kitty at the end of the season and try to secure a few big named signings, reports on the Gazzetta Dello Sport website have claimed that Inter are now seeking to cash in on Perisic.
Despite his age, it is believed that Inter are seeking a fee close to the £40 million mark.
