Italian Allegri headling to Premier League and Chelsea? after admitting Juventus asked me to leave
Chelsea target Max Allegri has admitted that Juventus asked him to leave this summer.
Despite leading Chelsea to two finals and back inside the top four of the Premier League, there has been a lot of talk in the media suggesting that Chelsea could sack Maurizio Sarri after the Europa League final against Arsenal at the end of the month.
Sarri’s future at Chelsea is far from certain following a series of spats with high-profile players and failing to build a rapport with the club’s fans, and there has been talk in the media which have suggested the Blues could make a move to sign Juventus coach Max Allegri.
Allegri has led Juventus to four successive league and cup doubles and two Champions League finals during his spell in charge, but he has decided to leave the club in the next few weeks as he seeks a fresh challenge in the game.
That has led to a lot of speculation in the media that he could indeed finally make that move to the Premier League, especially as Roman Abramovic is a massive fan and tried to nail down his signature before settling for Sarri.
“I leave a winning group that has the potential to repeat its success in Italy and have another great Champions League campaign,” an emotional Allegri told Sky Sports news
“Unfortunately, some situations meant we couldn’t go all the way this season. We talked, expressed our ideas on what was best for Juventus and the future of Juventus.
“After that, the club evaluated it and decided it was best that I wouldn’t be the coach next season.
“The rapport with President Agnelli, directors [Pavel] Nedved and [Fabio] Paratici remains excellent. We’ve all grown together and the right moment has come to leave on the best terms.
He added: “Some things were written that were not correct, suggesting I asked for a long contract, for a squad revolution and different players, but we never got to that. We simply realised it was best not to continue together.”
It will be interesting to see just how this one plays out over the next few weeks.
