Forget Real Madrid as £50m Spaniard Alonso officially announces he wants to be at Chelsea this summer
Marcos Alonso responds to Real Madrid links and has admitted that he is very happy at Chelsea.
Since making the move to Stamford Bridge a few seasons ago, Alonso has proven critics wrong and turned into one of the best Left-backs in world football, becoming a real source of creativity just behind star man Eden Hazard.
He is one of the first names on the team-sheet and Maurizio Sarri has no need to spend money and bring in an alternative as the Spaniard is just as reliable as he is quality.
But there has been some speculation that Real Madrid may swoop in at the end of the season and offer him a way back to La Liga as the Spaniards seek to revamp the squad after a very disappointing start to the season.
And although the Spaniard has admitted he is flattered by the interest shown by Madrid, he has told Chelsea fans that he is happy at the club and is hoping to stay and win more trophies.
The left-back told the Standard: “I am very happy here but we will see what happens this summer.
“There is always talk. Is it a compliment? Yes. It means I’m doing well if other teams are trying to get in touch.
“But first of all I’m focussing on the final. I am very happy to have four more years here and hopefully I will stay many more years here.”
Committing his long-term status at the club means nothing in the world of football as many have proven in the past that new deals are just a way of getting more wages at the next club.
But for now Chelsea fans will be happy as Alonso has been brilliant since his return to Premier football a couple of seasons ago, and is only getting better under the guidance of Maurizio Sarri.
So he will not be going anywhere this summer as Chelsea do not have to sell, especially as they nailed him down to a new contract in October.
