£43M star OFFICIALLY speaks out about Chelsea offer to get transfer deal done
Ajax star Edson Alvarez has opened up on his failed summer transfer to Chelsea.
Over the course of the transfer window – the Blues were heavily tipped to seal a move for Alavarez after his impressive season with the Dutch giants last season – and he was keen on a possible move.
However – the Blues could not get a deal over the line and in the end Alvarez stayed put – something that has been playing on his mind ever since that proposed move to Stamford Bridge feel through.
The Mexican midfielder told ESPN: “I am very disappointed about it. But I am convinced that one day a big club will come.
“We never expected Chelsea to put in another bid at the end of August.
“It was a difficult situation. Ajax couldn’t do anything.”

Alvarez has had a very good season for Ajax and it is strange to see why Sneijder has said these things about the player – but he is worth that £43 million that he is currently valued at.
Chelsea will surely make a move for the man in the coming windows and honestly – he is just the type of player that the Blues need to replace the out-going Ngolo Kante
So even though he did not get a move to Stamford Bridge during the summer transfer window – there may be a chance for him to get a move done in the January transfer season or next summer.
It will be interesting to see what Ajax do though and how much they will demand – Alvarez will not come cheap
