Amoyal opens up and has £108m Koulibaly transfer message for Chelsea

Calcioland podcast host David Amoyal has told the likes of Chelsea Kalidou Koulibaly will stay at Napoli this transfer window.

Koulibaly, regarded by many as one of the leading defenders in European football, is on the radar of Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri, as reports indicate that the Italian is seeking to improve his back-line in the coming transfer windows.

David Luiz is in talks over a new deal, but there is no guarantee he will stay, while Antonio Rudiger is unreliable when it comes to the big games and Andreas Christensen is pushing for a move away after failing to nail down a regular spot this season.

And that has led to speculation that Chelsea may try to secure a deal for Koulibaly this month, although Napoli have stuck a massive price tag on the head of the 27-year old defender.

But Amoyal doesn’t think Koulibaly will be leaving Naples anytime soon.

“Look, a lot can change in the summer, Koulibaly’s now right smack in the prime of his career,” he told The Calcioland podcast.

“I think in the summer, there’s probably no better time to sell, let’s see what happens.

“But I think in January there’s no formula that he’s gone and if I have to bet now, I bet he stays next season too.”

Is Koulibaly worth the £108 million?

Koulibaly is a big, powerful and dominant presence at the back and Chelsea would do well to secure his services, but Napoli know they do not need to sell and will not drop their massive price tag.

He is not worth such an amount, but football these days, clubs need to spend more than what players are worth if they want to secure their transfer deals.
