Chelsea news: Fee has been agreed – defender cleared for medical and summer move!
Leeds United have agreed a £7 million fee for CHELSEA ‘s Ethan Ampadu to arrive at Elland Road.
He has not played a game for them in four years, spending that time out on loan at RB Leipzig, Sheffield United, Venezia and Spezia – suffering consecutive relegations with the latter three.
The centre-back/defensive midfielder is not in Mauricio Pochettino’s plans, and with just a year left on his contract the Blues have been looking to offload him for the past few weeks.
WHAT IS THE LATEST –
He is now set to become a Leeds player and the first summer signing, according to Phil Hay of The Athletic.
Phil Hay has revealed that an agreement between the two clubs has now been reached, he said: “Leeds United and Chelsea reach agreement over a deal for Ethan Ampadu. Initial fee of around £7m with add-ons attached.
‘Clears the way for a medical and for Ampadu to become the club’s first signing of the summer.”
RIGHT DECISION TO LEAVE –
Look, Ampadu is certainly a very solid player and has a decent future in the game – but he needs to get away from CHELSEA and make a real name for himself in the game.
At Leeds he will have the chance to stay in one place for the next couple of seasons – will not worry about where his next loan move will be and that will give him the chance to develop.
This is certainly a very good move for the lad to make and Chelsea getting some money – that can go towards all the money that they have spent over the last couple of transfer windows.
So Yes this is the right decision to leave the club.
