Rennes tell Arsenal £35 million will get winger Sarr signed this summer

Arsenal have been linked with Rennes forward Ismaila Sarr, and reports claim the French club want at least £35million for him.

It is no secret that boss Unai Emery is keen to improve his attack this summer, with the Spanish boss desperate to add a bit more width and creativity to an attack that has reached the Europa League finals.

The likes of Gareth Bale, Hakim Ziyech and even Wilfred Zaha have all been linked with a possible move to the Emirates as all are seeking a summer move away from their respective clubs, but another name that has been mentioned as a possible signing is that of Sarr.

Sarr has been one of Rennes’ star players this season with 12 goals and 11 assists in 48 appearances for the French club and many reports have claimed that Emery believes Arsenal would be signing a player with huge potential is they manage to secure a £25 million deal.

But despite the reports which have claimed Rennes are ready to cash in on the 21-year-old, the TalkSport website have claimed that Emery will have to spend a large chunk of his £40 million transfer kitty trying to secure a transfer deal, as the French club wants around £35million to let one of their most exciting players depart the club in the coming weeks.

The young man has certainly been impressing this season for Rennes and his numbers speak for themselves, so if the Gunners are prepared to take a risk and give him that opportunity to play at the very highest level, then a fee of around £20 million should be the price they look to pay for Sarr.

He has talent, he just needs the right manager to make him a top-class winger.

However, Arsenal are now at that stage where signing ‘potential’ is simply not good enough when their Premier League rivals are spending the big money to acquire world class players that are in their prime.
