Sorry Chelsea and United as Adebayor announces what he told Partey ahead of Arsenal move
Emmanuel Adebayor has revealed that he advised Thomas Partey to snub interest from Chelsea and Manchester United in favour of a move to Arsenal.
After another impressive season in la Liga with Atletico Madrid, there was alot of speculation about the future of Partey after clubs learned that he would only cost £45 million to sign, because of that very low release clause.
Chelsea and United showed late interest in getting a deal done, but in the end it was Arsenal that swooped in and activated that release clause to get the player all signed up, and he has been terrific for the Gunners so far.
Now Togolese star Adebayor has opened up and claimed that he advised Partey to make the move to the Emirates over the summer, he said at an event in Ghana: “He told me that some clubs in England, namely Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, and others have shown interest in him and he needs advice.
“I advised him to go to Arsenal because I have had the opportunity to play there and I think it will be good for his development.
“Arsenal is more than a club, it is a family and I’m impressed with his performances so far in the Premier League.”
Look, it does not matter who advised Partey to make the move to the Emirates, Arsenal fans will just be happy that the board made the decision to activate his clause and bring him to the Premier League.
He is just the type of player that they needed in the middle of that park, and the fact that they beat Chelsea and United to the deal, will just be the bonus on top for the club.
As we said, he is just the type of player that Mikel Arteta needed in the squad.
