Arsenal statement officially released as Gunners announced full-back Osei-Tutu has agreed summer move
Arsenal have officially confirmed that youngster Jordi Osei-Tutu has joined VfL Bochum on a season-long loan.
Osei-Tutu, 20, was named on the bench for two Premier League fixtures in the 2017/18 season but injuries restricted him to just 11 appearances with Arsenal’s Under-23 squad last term.
However, with Speculation in the media suggesting that Unai Emery was looking to add an adequate replacement to the first team with Nacho Monreal coming towards the back-end of his career, there has been some talk in the media that the Spaniard would be prepared to hand Osei-Tutu a chance.
Emery will only be given a transfer kitty that limits the type of players that will arrive this transfer window, meaning he will need to save money in order to complete some world class deals.
But Arsenal have decided that Tutu is not ready to break into the first team just yet and the full-back joins the 2. Bundesliga outfit to gain regular first-team football.
An Arsenal statement read: “We wish Jordi the best of luck for his time with Bochum. The loan deal is subject to the completion of regulatory processes.”
Emery will need to save some money this transfer window and give some of the younger players more of a chance in the first team rather than spend on players that will need time to develop at the club.
But it was the right decision to send Tutu out on-loan for a season as he will get some good game time over the German leagues, where younger players get more of a chance to shine.
Arsenal will be keeping a close eye on his development over the next 12 months and if he impresses Emery enough, then he may be offered the opportunity to make an impact on the Gunners side in the coming years.
But for now he will look to get some regular first-tam action under his belt and finally start fulfilling the potential that many at the Emirates hope.
