Milenkovic talks, Banega news, Pogba stunner in Arsenal, Man United Thursday news

Here is the daily roundup of Arsenal and Manchester United news, gossip and transfer speculation from IcFootballnews.

MANCHESTER UNITED are in talks to sign Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic, it has been claimed.

United have endured a terrible start to the new Premier League season which has seen the Red Devils ship more goals in the league than they did in the whole of last season.

Jose Mourinho may be long gone and enjoying the sunshine somewhere, but a new central defender remains high on the Red Devils’ wish list after failing to sign one in the summer transfer window.

They have been linked with the likes of Toby Alderweireld, Harry Maguire and Kalidou Koulibaly in recent months, with some reports even suggesting a £90 million offer was to be made for the Napoli star.

But according to La Repubblica, Old Trafford bosses are pushing to secure Milenkovic’s signature ahead of next month’s mid-season sale, with the Serbia international’s agent talking to the club in a bid to land a deal.

It is believed he will cost United in excess of £60 million to acquire, but will be seen as a long-term investment as well as someone that can come in and make a real impact on the side.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was appointed as interim boss until the end of the season but he is not expected to be involved in any deals which United pull off, as they already scouted a number of players before they sacked the special one.

Former Manchester United star Phil Neville has claimed Paul Pogba ‘is the worlds best midfielder’ on his day.

The Frenchman has not fulfilled his potential since his return back to Old Trafford a few seasons ago and has come under heavy criticism for his performances and his attitude, especially during the continuous spats with former boss Jose Mourinho.

But the Frenchman has run into some form under interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and is starting to look like the world class midfielder that dominated Serie A with Juventus.

The 25-year-old took his tally to the season to seven with a double in United’s 3-1 win against Huddersfield at Old Trafford on Boxing Day and Neville has made a bold claim on the Frenchmans’ recent performances.

‘Paul Pogba on his day is the best midfielder in Europe,’ Neville told Match of the Day.

Pogba has been linked with a move to Juventus and PSG over the past few months, with all indications suggesting he has had enough of trying to please the fans.

Reports have claimed Arsenal hope to sign Ever Banega in the January transfer window and are willing to trigger the midfielder’s release clause.

With Gunners boss Unai Emery looking to carry on puuting his own spin on the team and freshen up the squad, he is reportedly keen to add to his squad after acquiring the services of Bernd Leno, Sokratis, Stephen Lichsteiner, Matero Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira during the summer transfer window.

And with reports that Aaron Ramsey is beng linked up for a big move to French Champions PSG, reports on the TalkSport website has claimed Emery is eager to bring in the £18 million rated midfielder, to help enhance his chase for Champions League football.

Banega has been constantly linked with a move to the Emirates as Emery is keen to be reunited with a player that brought so much success to his Sevilla days.

The 29-year-old’s pedigree is well-established having played for Boca Juniors, Valencia and Sevilla and his high-energy style could work well for Emery at the Emirates Stadium.
