Arsenal women have announced the signing of l forward Rosa Kafaji on a permanent transfer, who joins the club from BK Häcken in Sweden on a long-term contract and will wear the number 16 jersey.

The Gunners posted on the club website: ‘Born in Stockholm on 5th July 2003, Rosa began her career at hometown club AIK Football, where she developed through the club’s academy before making her senior debut in 2019 at the age of 15. Now 21, Rosa made a total of 46 appearances for AIK Football, scoring 19 goals.

‘Rosa made the switch from AIK Football to BK Häcken in January 2022 and would go on to make 61 appearances and score 28 goals during her time at the club. She was Häcken’s top scorer in the 2023/24 season, scoring 15 goals including four in a thrilling UEFA Women’s Champions League run, which saw Häcken beat Real Madrid twice on the way to the quarter-final stage.

‘At international level, Rosa worked her way up the age groups before making her senior debut from the bench against Italy in the UEFA Women’s Nations League in October 2023. She has already made nine appearances and scored one goal for her country.’

And after seeing the deal get announced – the forward announced how delighted she is with the transfer deal: “It feels amazing to join this club – I’m so happy to be here.

“I had a very good feeling after speaking to Jonas and Clare and it just feels right to be at Arsenal. I’m hungry to keep growing and I know this is the right place for me to do that and compete for the biggest trophies. I can’t wait to get started and walk out at Emirates Stadium in front of all our supporters.”

Director of ARSENAL Women’s Football Clare Wheatley added: “Rosa is one of the outstanding young players in the game and we’re so happy to have brought her to Arsenal. She has already gained great experience, and has the ambition and desire to continue to develop and grow in our environment.

‘I’m sure our supporters will join me in welcoming Rosa to the club. We look forward to watching her in red and white very soon.”

ARTETA MAKES CALAFIORI CLAIM – 

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has highlighted new arrival Riccardo Calafiori’s talents and revealed that he really wanted to sign the Italian after seeing him last season.

The Italian defender signed from Bologna last week, penning a five-year deal with ARSENAL after months of speculation and rumours about his future after an impressive season with the Italian side.

Mikel Arteta was desperate to add a bit more depth to the side before the end of the transfer window and Calafiori was seen as the ideal player to come in and add some much needed depth to the back-line.

The summer signing shared a pair of snaps to Instagram as he posed in the Gunners’ new third kit, and revealed that he can not wait to get started – Alongside the pictures, he wrote: “Can’t wait to get started! Forza @arsenal #COYG.”

Now Mikel Arteta has opened up and revealed why he wanted to bring the Italian to ARSENAL – Discussing the Italian defender, he told Sky Sports: “I fell in love with him, I watched him a year ago. I saw something different – an aura, a charisma, a presence that was not only related to his skill.

“We started to follow him & we saw a player – he was 21 at the time – that was doing things & reacting to things in a way a 21-year-old normally doesn’t. He had a really difficult past as well, a difficult knee injury, the way he reacted to that.

“When I met him, I said, ‘For sure’. He was so convinced, he only wanted to come to Arsenal, he only wanted to play for us, so I’m really happy to have him!”

There is alot of hype about Calafiori and what he can bring to ARSENAL over the next few seasons – but he is certainly a very good defender that will add quality to that Gunners side.

This is another good bit of business by that Arsenal board – but there is sill time left in the transfer window to add a few more players and fans will surely be hoping that a couple more faces make the move to London.
