Arsenal announce defender deal -Gunners wants incredible winger – Icon speaks on possible £100m Arsenal signing

Here is a roundup of the top Arsenal transfer news and gossip that we think you guys may have missed today –

Gunners icon Ray Parlour has had his say on the possible Arsenal signing of Bruno Guimaraes this summer window.

Over the past couple of seasons – Guimaraes has developed into one of the very best midfielders in the Premier League and a player that Mikel Arteta is reportedly as massive fan of as he seeks to improve his squad.

There are quite a few squad members that Mikel Arteta is reportedly looking to offload this summer window, and Guimaraes will be expected to be the immediate replacement for Thomas Partey, who is one those players linked wit a move away.

But although Parlour is a big fan of Guimaraes, the ex-England midfielder is unsure if the 26-year-old would slot in tactically at ARSENAL.

Speaking to Football FanCast for NetBet Casino, he said: “I like him as a player, he is very strong and has been a big part in the improvement that Newcastle have made under Eddie Howe.

“I’m not sure he fits into the Arsenal team as we have Declan Rice and Guimaraes is that little bit more offensive than where Arsenal needs to strengthen.

“If (Thoas) Partey moves on then Arsenal may go for a more efficient player than Guimaraes, so I’m not 100% sure Arteta will look to pursue him.”

Look, Guimaraes is a quality player – but he will not want to join Arsenal and sit on the bench every week – he will want to start and with the starting 11 that the Gunners have – that would be very difficult.

There have been so many players linked with a move to ARSENAL this summer – but unless something crazy happens – we cannot see the Gunners paying £100 million for the Brazilian star.

NICO WILLIAMS WANTED –

Arsenal are planning to trigger the £42.6million release clause in Nico Williams’ contract, according to reports.

The 21-year-old has banged in seven goals and grabbed 16 assists in 34 appearances for Athletic Bilbao this season across all fronts and is a player that is attracting some of the games biggest clubs.

It is no secret that Mikel Arteta is looking to add some more quality to his attack when the transfer window opens up and is keen to bolster his squad with another winger – to help cove injuries etc.

A report from Football Transfers claims the Gunners want to add the Athletic Bilbao wideman to their ranks, but they will have to move fast because PSG are also said to be interested.

Chelsea could also switch their attentions to Williams if they fail in a move for Michael Olise

In an interview with Give Me Sport, journalist Dean Jones recently urged Arsenal to make a move for Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams this summer, although he could cost close to £100 million to sign from the Spanish side.

Jones said: “There are a few rumours going around on social media about Rafael Leao being an ARSENAL target. While it does make sense in some way, I just cannot see this coming through.

“I can believe his style of play is something Arsenal would love to add to the mix. His characteristics fit with the fact they want to find a new wide option and he is direct and exciting, but he has a high release clause

“Even though that won’t be met by anyone, you are still looking at a £100million player. I don’t sense that Arsenal will go that high, and I’m not sure I really see the player on the move yet.

“If we are to look for a signing from abroad, I think a player like Nico Williams would make more sense.”

The numbers from Williams are amazing – the lad is amazing and under the guidance of Mikel Arteta – he could develop into a class winger.

However – we cannot see ARSENAL paying close to £100 million for the winger – they have other areas of the pitch they need to work on.

WIENROITHER DEAL ANNOUNCED –

Laura Wienroither has signed a new deal with Arsenal Women, and she is delighted with the new deal.

The 25-year-old has made 47 appearances since joining the club in January 2022. But the defender spent much of the 2023/24 campaign sidelined with an ACL injury, returning to the team in April.

However – the decision has been made to hand her a new contract at the club – and she has opened up and announced just how delighted she is with the new contract at ARSENAL.

“It’s such an incredible feeling for me to put pen to paper once again for the Arsenal,” Wienroither told the club’s official website.

“I’m so happy to remain at this club and to have the opportunity to continue playing for a football team that I consider home. Being back on the pitch with my teammates is a feeling I can’t describe, and I can’t wait for the next season to get started.”

Head coach Jonas Eidevall then opened up and admitted just how delighted he is with the new deal, he added: “I’m delighted that Laura has signed a new deal with us. She brings us real quality in the full-back position, while her work rate and team spirit are just as important.

“She’s worked so hard on her return to competition and I’m sure she will continue to make a big contribution to the squad moving forward.”
