Arsenal announce Dutch signing – Arteta told sign 36-goal star – Odegaard excited about new Arsenal signing!

Here is a roundup of the top Arsenal news and gossip that we think you guys could have missed today –

Ex-Arsenal defender William Gallas believes Julian Alvarez would be a ‘great signing’ for his former club and insists he would take the team to ‘the next level’.

ARSENAL have challenged for the Premier League over the last two seasons and look like the side that could end the winning streak of Manchester City – but many believe that the club needs a new striker to really win that title.

Alvarez has scored 36 goals in 103 appearances for Manchester City since joining them from boyhood club River Plate in 2022, but he has opened the door to a potential move away from the club after revealing that he is no happy with the game time that he gets.

Mikel Arteta worked at Man City as Pep Guardiola’s assistant and has twice raided his former club since joining Arsenal, bringing Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko to the Emirates Stadium, and Alvarez is a player that he reportedly admires.

Now – amid all the speculation and rumours – Gallas has come out and encouraged the Gunners to make a move for Alvarez as he would be a ‘great signing’ for the Gunners that would help take the club to that next level: ‘Julian Alvarez would be a great signing for Arsenal,’ Gallas told Genting Casino.

‘He is a world champion, Copa America winner, won the Premier League twice in a row and won the Champions League.

‘He has played most of City’s important games and is a starter for Argentina, he would bring so much winning experience to Arsenal and he looks like a player that wants to reach his very highest level by playing as many minutes as possible.

‘Alvarez would take Arsenal to the next level, I don’t know if he could score 20 goals but he can play on the flank or behind the striker and be very influential.’

Guardiola does not want to sell Alvarez – and we dont believe he will allow the striker to join Arsenal knowing just how much he would improve that ARSENAL attack.

This wont happen.

ODEGAARD MAKES CALAFIORI CLAIM –

Martin Odegaard was full of praise for Arsenal latest summer signing Riccardo Calafiori after the Italian’s first training session.

The Italian defender signed from Bologna on Monday, penning a five-year deal with ARSENAL after months of speculation and rumours about his future after an impressive season with the Italian side.

Mikel Arteta was desperate to add a bit more depth to the side before the end of the transfer window and Calafiori was seen as the ideal player to come in and add some much needed depth to the back-line.

He has been at the club for a few days now and star man Odegaard has opened up and revealed just how impressed he has been by the Italian – and claims that he will give the club alot in the future – Odegaard said: “Everyone saw it straightaway in training, he’s a top player.

“He’s a top defender, he has this presence on the pitch. I’m sure he’s going to give us a lot & I’m looking forward to seeing more from him.”

Mikel Arteta recently revealed he was unsure he’d be able to lure Riccardo Calafiori to the Emirates – The Spaniard said of the newest Gunners star: “I spoke to him one or two times and I knew the other things [teams being interested].

“I wasn’t really sure if we could do it or not, but he was adamant. ‘Let me know when you’re ready, my bags are ready and I just want to come to Arsenal’.

“Those were his words and when you have that feeling, someone with that willingness to join us and make us better and that determination, it’s something really powerful and as a club, we should be really proud of that.”

There is alot of hype about Calafiori and what he can bring to ARSENAL over the next few seasons – but he is certainly a very good defender that will add quality to that Gunners side.

He is simply a great signing by Arsenal

ARSENAL SIGN VAN DOMSELAAR –

Dutch goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar has joined Arsenal on a permanent deal, it has been revealed.

The Dutch No1 had only been at Aston Villa for one season after joining them from FC Twente, but had a release clause in her contract worth around £200,000, and ARSENAL made the decision to bring her to the club.

Arsenal posted on the club website: ‘Daphne arrives from Barclays Women’s Super League side Aston Villa and will wear our number 14 shirt.

‘The 24-year-old began her career at youth level with LSVV and Telstar in the Netherlands, before making her professional debut with FC Twente in 2017. She made 106 appearances for Twente, winning three league titles and a further five domestic trophies across a six-year spell.

‘Daphne joined Aston Villa in June 2023 and made 15 appearances for the team during her first season in English football.

‘At international level, Daphne made her full Netherlands debut in 2022 and has gone on to win 27 caps. She represented her country at the UEFA European Women’s Championship in 2022 and the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2023

‘Everyone at the club welcomes Daphne and her family to Arsenal.

‘The transfer is subject to the completion of regulatory processes.’

Director of Women’s Football, Clare Wheatley, said: “Daphne is one of the best young goalkeepers in the world and we are very pleased to confirm her arrival here at Arsenal. She has a hunger to develop and succeed that closely aligns with our ethos at the club and we’re confident she will be a great addition to our squad.”

ARSENAL Head Coach Jonas Eidevall added: “We’re delighted to bring Daphne to the club. She is a top goalkeeper and already has considerable experience on some of the biggest stages, while we believe she has a great deal of potential for future development, too.
