Arsenal announce midfield deal – Gunners have agreed to sign £86M man – Arsenal told sign big man

Here is a roundup of the top Arsenal news and gossip that we think you guys may have missed today –

Bacary Sagna has told Paddy Power that Arsenal need a focal point striker like Olivier Giroud.

The Gunners had an amazing season last year and look like they could be the side to beat in the upcoming season – but only if they add a couple of new signings to the side over the next few weeks.

There has been alot of calls that ARSENAL need a new striker – there has been some big names linked with a move to the Emirates – but despite all the speculation no striker has been brought to the club so far.

But amid all that speculation and rumours – Sagna has opened up and encouraged the club to sign a striker like Giroud – He said: “Arsenal need to be stronger and be more attacking going forward. This season, scoring goals was a problem for them. They could add a proper striker – a number nine.

“Arsenal are playing well but they can improve on crossing the ball – they hold the ball well generally, but occasionally they’ll need to cross it more. Arsenal are a fantastic team but they pass the ball around the box a lot, and some teams can come and make it difficult for them.

“I’m happy with Gabriel Jesus, as long as he stays fit, but they still have to have cover. I would go for someone like Olivier Giroud, someone physical who can hold the ball quite well and support the team if they’re struggling.

‘They need someone who can wait in the box and help out offensively and defensively.”

There is plenty of weeks left in the transfer window for ARSENAL to get their transfer business done – we are expecting a new striker to be signed – but it will be interesting to see if they listen to Sagna.

ARSENAL AGREE GYOKERES FEE –

Arsenal have agreed an £86million deal for Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres, it has been claimed in the media.

The Gunners have been linked throughout the summer with the striker as they seek to bolster that front line over the next few months – and Gyokeres 43 goal season last year has got many clubs interested in a potential deal.

There has been so many rumours and speculation regarding the future of Gyokeres – but the latest reports suggest that Arsenal are leading the chase to sign the big man and are even getting closer to a possible deal for the forward.

Portuguese Outlet Leonino have not claimed that ARSENAL have agreed to pay £86 million and bring Gyokeres to the club in order to solve their striker issues for the upcoming season, although those reports have not been verified.

Former Portugal midfielder Pedro Mendes recently claimed that Gyokeres could be a great signing for Arsenal – Mendes, speaking to BoyleSports who offer the latest Premier League betting, said:“Viktor Gyokeres has been one of the most successful signings in the Portuguese league and what he achieved in scoring 43 goals and winning the title with Sporting is incredible.

“Ruben Amorin has said there is no chance he will leave but if someone pays the buy-out clause then they won’t have a choice. He is powerful, runs into the channels, fights with defenders and he would be very difficult to replace for Sporting.

“In the Premier League, he would be the typical striker and would do very well. If you look at football these days, he is a young player and scored 29 goals in Portugal last season, £86 million would be a fair price for Arsenal to pay.

“He is different from the strikers ARSENAL has at the moment with different style of play so his success would depend on how they want to play. If they change their system to suit a striker then he is the perfect choice.”

ARSENAL CONFIRMS FRANCIS DEAL –

Arsenal midfielder Jack Henry-Francis has joined Sligo Rovers on loan until the end of the 2024 season and he is delighted with the move.

“I’m looking to get some exposure to first-team football really and when I get the chance, I want to put in some really good performances”, he says.

“I think I can do that here. I’ve spoken a lot to John and about his plans for me and the squad for the rest of the year and it’s been very exciting. I know a fair bit about the league and have watched a fair bit of it since I knew I’d be moving over. There seems to be a lot of togetherness in the team and a lot of fight along with some really good technical players.”

“It’s always a great experience being with ARSENAL’s first-team as it’s always intense as there are a lot of demands, but I feel that will stand to me at Rovers. The trip to Scotland was incredible as you were playing alongside players with lots of Premier League and international experience. The last few years, the level I’ve trained at has really made me play up a level as you’re training with players who are chasing Premier League titles.”

Speaking about the move, Rovers boss John Russell says he feels he has found a player who will easily fit into his plans for the team between now and the end of the year.

“I am delighted to bring Jack to the Showgrounds”, he says.

“He is a tenacious midfielder who plays the game with real energy and aggression. It’s important now that we continue to add real quality to the group and Jack fits that profile. We are all excited to get to work with him and I know he’s looking forward to making an impact between now and the end of the season.”
