Here is a roundup of the top Arsenal news and gossip that we think you guys could have missed today –

Italy and Juventus legend Leonardo Bonucci has seemingly confirmed Riccardo Calafiori is headed for Arsenal.

ARSENAL are waiting for the go-ahead as the Italian club and Calafiori’s former team Basel are still discussing the payment terms of a 50% sell-on clause. There is also set to be a similar clause in this move, but it is unlikely to be anywhere near a 50/50 split.

Arsenal are said to have agreed a £33.7 million fee with Bologna, with another £4.21 million in add-ons to follow. Personal terms were finalised weeks ago with the Italy international

Juventus were strongly interested in signing the defender but then focused efforts elsewhere with Jean-Clair Todibo becoming their priority. However, Bonucci appears upset that his former club missed out on Calafiori.

“Calafiori? I’m sorry about his transfer,” he said, as revealed by journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

“I would have liked to see him at Juventus. He is a defender who is a little different from what we are used to seeing.

“He plays, he has personality and he fits in. We are exporting a great player who will be a point of reference for the national team for the next 15 years.”

Calafiori is a player that Arsenal really wants to sign but have been unable to get the deal over the line – there has been alot said about what he could bring to the Emirates – but he will be a solid signing for the club.

Mikel Arteta has done alot of transfer business over the past few windows so we are sure that Calafiori is a player that will bring alot of quality to that ARSENAL side for the foreseeable future.

SETFORD SIGNS –

18-year-old goalkeeper Tommy Setford has Arsenal on a permanent transfer from Ajax Amsterdam after weeks of speculation

The goalkeeper has put pen to paper on a four-year deal. ARSENAL reportedly agreed a fee of around £870,000 with Ajax to sign the 18-year-old.

Setford is now set to link up with Arsenal Under-21s following the release of three young goalkeepers this summer – Ovie Ejeheri, James Hillson and Arthur Okonkwo

The Gunners posted on the club website: ‘Everyone at the club welcomes Tommy to Arsenal and we look forward to supporting him on his development journey with us.

‘The deal is subject to the completion of regulatory processes.’

Speaking after his deal was confirmed, he said: “I want to thank Arsenal for this opportunity. I can’t wait to hit the ground running

“I already know Ethan [Nwnaeri] and Myles [Lewis-Skelly]. They’re great guys and I can have a good laugh with them. I spent a few camps with them, so I know them well. I just saw them for a quick meet and greet!

“I’m looking forward to learning new things next season and pushing myself to another level. For the short term, it’s very important now to get a feel for the group and start to know everyone.” – watch the full interview with Tommy by pressing play on the video above.

ARSENAL Academy Manager, Per Mertesacker said: “We welcome Tommy to Arsenal. He is a young goalkeeper with big potential and we look forward to supporting his development in the coming years.

“The first step on Tommy’s development pathway with us will be to integrate into our under-21s academy group and train regularly with our first team goalkeeping group.”

YILMAZ TALKS HELD –

The agent of Baris Alper Yilmaz will reportedly meet with Arsenal officials in London about a move to the Premier League

The Gunners have been linked with so many players over the past few months as many fans expected the Gunners to bring in a few more quality players to add to the squad.

But it is widely expected that ARSENAL will look to add to that attack this transfer window – and Yilmaz is a player that has been linked with a move to the Emirates over the past few weeks after his impressive performances in the Euros 2024 for Turkey.

Yilmaz has been in the capital this week, as the player made known on social media, amid several Premier League clubs being credited with an interest in the Euro 2024 star.

Aston Villa, Brighton & Hove Albion, Liverpool and Manchester United are also apparently following the Turkiye international, while Borussia Dortmund are said to be monitoring the situation.

Sabah reports it will cost at least £25 million to sign Yilmaz. Galatasaray will purportedly reject any offer below that price but he has reportedly already held talks with Arsenal about a potential move.

A club president recently claimed that Arsenal do in fact have an interest in signing Yilmaz: “We have 20 percent of Baris Alper Yilmaz’s share but Galatasaray has not requested a meeting with us on this issue,” Keciorengucu president, Sedat Tahiroglu told Turkish news outlet Aksam. “I hear Liverpool and Arsenal want him but I know Nuri Sahin definitely wants him [at Dortmund].

“I don’t think the price will be €50 million (£42 million). He can be sold for around €30 million (£25 million).

“The path needs to be paved for young people for Turkish football. Hopefully, he will make the decision that is good for him.

“The money is not important. The important thing is for Baris Alper to go to a team where he will be successful because he will be the face of Turkey.”
