‘Arsenal can do better than Arteta’ as board urged to bring fiery character to the Emirates in the summer

Darren Bent believes Arsenal could appoint a better manager than Mikel Arteta

Arteta came to Arsenal with a big reputation after working with Pep Guardiola over at Manchester City, and after that FA Cup win last season, there was big hope from the club this season.

However, he is under pressure after a difficult first full season in management as Arsenal finished the 2020/21 campaign in eighth place, and It means the Gunners will play a season without European football for the first time in 25 years next term.

And Arsenal fan Bent wants former Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte to boss the Gunners, The ex-Tottenham striker told talkSPORT: “Listen, I think we could get better if I’m honest.

“I’m not quite sure about the [Zinedine] Zidane appointment because he fell into a situation with the best players in the world and won three Champions Leagues.

“[Mauricio] Pochettino is never going to go to Arsenal because of his Spurs ties.

“Conte is probably someone where you go, ‘yeah, I wouldn’t mind him’, but I think he’d end up taking a bigger job because he’s a top manager.

“He won the league in England with Chelsea and then went back to Italy to win the league with Inter Milan, what would he come to Arsenal for? What are the benefits?”

Arteta is a boss with a big reputation, but at the end of the day he has shown that he is not the right man to lead the club back into the habit of winning trophies.

Conte is proven at world level and Gunners fans would love him, but there is alot of interest in the coach and Arsenal will have a hard time getting him to the Emirates if they do decide to sack Arteta.

Dear Mr. Iomiee, I do not share your point of view. When you look back at the Wenger last seasons and Emery seasons at Arsenal, I would say that the problem at Arsenal is definitely not the Manager, may be 10% but the real problem is the Kroenke specially the father. Can you sum up the money they have injected in transfer windows. It is far less than the other major big teams. I will give you an example Chelsea for instance year in year out they invest n build up their team similarly for liverpool who then became champion. My simple conclusion is that if you want to compete you need to invest in the market each year but you need to invest cleverly and before others. To be able to do so you need to have experience people n sufficient funds at the same time available. What are you seeing right now all sorts of speculation when the ideal stand point is to make your deals unnoticed and quick. I am an Arsenal fan since the likes of Tony Woodcock, Pat Jenings etc. I have known the successful days under Arsene Wenger. I think that somehow Arsenal has lost its identity when the Kroenke has become the owners. One may not agree with me, but I believe that sacking Arteta for a more prolific Manager is not worthwhile as he will have to work with the same dilemmas as Emery and now Arteta are working. I know the character of Arteta and think he is the right man but with the wrong owners.
