Arsenal fc news: Mikel Arteta opens up and announces ‘ he is trying to work out’ £72 million puzzle

Mikel Arteta is now set on giving Nicolas Pepe all the tools he needs to make his mark with the Arsenal.

After having a breakthrough season last year for Lille, Pepe managed to secure himself a massive £72 million move to the Emirates as Gunners boss Unai Emery felt he needed to bolster his already impressive attack with another winger.

But despite some classy glimpses of what is to come from the young man, Pepe has so far failed to fulfil the potential that many Arsenal fans had hoped after the club broke the club record to acquire his services ahead of Bayern Munich, as he is really struggling to adapt to the Premier League.

Last season he hit 35 in 68 starts for Lille and many believed he would come in and become a real star for the club, and although he hasnt hit the heights just yet, Arteta has opened up and admitted that he is trying to work out how to get the very best out of Pepe.

“First of all he needs the right structure behind him to be able to provide the moments of quality and winning games, whether it’s assists, goals, dribbles or whatever it is,” ARTETA STATED

“Afterwards he needs to have a much clearer picture of the things that are happening on the pitch, why they are happening and how he can solve them. I think he’s in the process of doing that.

“He hasn’t played 12 or 15 games in a row, which is a massive thing for a player in those positions which are more difficult on the pitch to make an impact in games, he needs to earn that with his performances.

“He was in France and was one of the biggest stars in the league. He made an incredible year. He comes here and a lot of people didn’t even know him and you paid that price tag. So for him to put his brain into this picture and solve all this is not easy. And he’s a really young player.”

It is not easy to come into a new League and make your mark, especially with a massive price tag on his head but now that Pepe has a manager that believes in him, maybe fans will start seeing the best of the man?
