‘We can do great things together’ Mikel Arteta tells Arsenal fans he is looking at summer deals already
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta admits he has already started planning for the summer transfer window.
The Gunners have struggled for victories in recent weeks, with four consecutive draws in the Premier League leaving them 10 points off the top four and a spot in the Champions League looking unlikely.
Arteta managed to secure some late transfer deals during the January transfer window, bringing in both Cedrik Soares and Pablo Mari, who will add a bit more stability to that dodgy back-line, meaning that Arteta can focus on other areas of the pitch when the summer transfer window opens up.
And despite the fact that the summer transfer window is still a few months away, Arteta has opened up and admitted that he has already begun the process of looking to sign a few players and get this Arsenal side back challenging for more than a top four spot on a yearly basis.
He told the Sun: “Absolutely, we have to plan. We need to know the direction we want to have and to do that we need to bear in mind different scenarios.
“With that in mind I have to tell the club what we need, where we think we can improve and where we want to aim, and if we all want to aim for the same things then we put a plan together to try to execute it and make the process as short as possible.”
Arteta has alot of work to do to even get the Arsenal back inside the top four spot this season with the squad that he has, and then keeping his biggest players when the transfer window opens up will also be a struggle.
But if he can manage that and then add a few top-class players to the side, then it could be a very exciting season for the Arsenal next year as fans saw what the Arteta effect can do against Newcastle at the weekend, when the Gunners walked away 4-0 winners.
