Arsenal and Manchester United told £70 million will get Premier League deal for Bassika all wrapped up
Arsenal and Manchester United have reportedly been told they will have to sump up £70 million to acquire the services of Aaron Wan-Bassika this summer.
Wan-Bissaka has shot to prominence this season after breaking into Crystal Palace’s team and his performances for the Eagles have caught the attentions of both Arsenal and Manchester United, who are seeking to reinforce their back-line during the summer window.
The Gunners may have Bellerin as the clubs main right-back, but the Spanish star is constantly linked with a move to Barcelona and is not the player that dominated a few seasons ago after a serious of injuries has stopped his rapid rise to becoming one of the best right-backs in the game.
And United are desperate to bring in another right-back, especially as long-time servant Antonio Velencia has departed the club after failing to agree a new long-term contract at the club.
According to the Sun, Crystal Palace have placed a £70m price-tag on the 21-year-old as they look to keep hold of him.
Palace have no intention of sell one of their prized assets and have put a hefty price on his head to ward off interest from the Premier League’s biggest clubs.
Gunners legend Robert Pires recently urged Unai Emery to try and complete a summer deal for the £40 million rated Palace star, telling Bwin: “Arsenal should definitely be looking to sign Wan-Bissaka in the summer transfer window. He’s exactly the type of player that would suit the attacking full-back role that Arsenal like to play and he would definitely improve the team next season,” Pires asserted.
“[Hector] Bellerín will have a long road to recovery and Arsenal won’t be wanting to rush him back in too quickly. There’s also the chance that his injury will be a recurring one so they need to have another full-back of the same high quality and I think Wan-Bissaka is that player.”
Wan-Bissaka is showing great potential and is certainly a talent that could evolve and develop if he managed to secure a big money move to the likes of Arsenal or United.
He may not be ready to be the clubs first choice right-back, but give him a few seasons around the quality of both sets of players and the young man could develop into a real Premier League sensation.
However, Palace are dreaming if they believe they can get £60 million for the right-back as he is not at that standard just yet, they will be very lucky to get much more than £25 million for the 21-year old.
