Mikel Arteta has been told to bring back this battling midfielder to Arsenal

Darren Bent believes Arsenal should bring Lucas Torreira back from Atletico Madrid

The Uruguyan midfielder managed to get a transfer move away from the Gunners in the summer transfer window when Madrid boss Diego Simeone made the decision to take him over to La Liga.

But despite all the hype surrounding that move, Torreira has struggled to make an impact on loan at Atletico Madrid this season, making just six LaLiga appearances, But Bent – a Gooners fan – reckons he could still have a career at the Emirates and prove a useful player for Mikel Arteta.

Bent told talkSPORT: “I probably would [take him back] because it’s more strength in depth.

“For me, I thought he was better than [Mohamed] Elneny. But, to be fair, Elneny has come back and he’s neat and tidy on the ball and he’s fitting into what Arteta wants to do and he is playing well.

“But I would take him back because of what it’s like at Arsenal. Things can change very, very quickly. Also with [Thomas] Partey and his injuries, at the minute.

“When he first came, he showed everyone what a good player he was.”

Torreira is a player with alot of ability, but his time at the Emirates is done, and if they did bring him back to the club, he would just continue to keep that bench warm.

We are firm believers of second chances, but as we said, Torreira is not the type of player that Arteta needs in the middle of that park and if he cannot put in good performances in La Liga, he will not be able to do that back in the Premier League
