Brazilian looking to sell Fuchs, fans told as Arsenal interested in completing early summer deal
Arsenal are showing interest in Brazilian defender Bruno Fuchs, as a possible replacement for David Luiz.
Despite the fact that Luiz has been a big part of the Arsenal side this season, the Brazilian has not yet been given the contract that he desires to stay at the club for another 12 months, and could actually depart Arsenal this summer.
It will mean that Arsenal will once again be short at the back, which will mean that Mikel Arteta will need to spend some serious money in order to replace the Brazilian star in the transfer window.
The Gunners sent scouts to observe the centre-back before the season was halted by the Coronavirus pandemic, and now Journalist Gustavo Fogaca claims Arsenal are monitoring Fuchs, especially as his current club are ready to sell.
“Yes, in addition to AC Milan, Arsenal and Porto also sent their scouts to Porto Alegre to analyse the player,” Fogaca told FCInterNews.
“But for the moment, nobody has made a written proposal. However, the president of Internacional, Marcelo Medeiros, said he was willing to sell the young defender.”
Asked how much Fuchs could fetch in the transfer window, Fogaca responded: “It is very difficult to make an exact estimate, especially now in times of a pandemic.
“Maybe, between 2-5 million euros (£1.7m-£4.5million), but it is difficult to be precise.”
Losing Luiz will be a massive blow to Arteta, so while they are in talks, there is no harm in looking around to see what else is about just in case the Brazilian fails to agree a new deal with the club.
Is Fuchs good enough to make an impact at Arsenal? we do not know. But we do know that asking price that he has is very attractive for the Gunners, who are always seeking to land a few bargains when the transfer windows opens up.
It will be very interesting to see if Arsenal do make this transfer move.
