Arsenal close to signing up top-class act – Edu in talks over Brazilian deal – possible arrival tipped to be great Arsenal signing

Here is a roundup of the top Arsenal news and gossip from icfootballnews that we think you guys may have missed today –

Jeremie Aliadiere believes that Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi would be a good addition for ARSENAL

Over the last few seasons – Arteta has got this Arsenal side from challenging for a top six side into challenging for that Premier League title – and they still have a chance to win the thing.

However – despite all the focus on the Premier League right now – there is still alot of speculation surrounding the players that Arteta will look to sign during the summer, especially now that they will be back in the Champions League.

That has led to some rumours in the media which have claimed that Arsenal and Tottenham are both ready to battle it out for the signature of Guehi – who has been impressing at Palace this season.

And add that to the concerns William Saliba’s back injury could keep the defender out for a long-time, then adding a new defender to the squad is high up on things to do in the transfer window.

Now – amid all the speculation – Aliadiere has claimed that Guehi would be a good signing for the club – He told Premier League Betting: “I think Marc Guehi would be a great signing. He’s been fantastic this season, he’s strong and he can play so he has every attribute to become a top player.

“Saliba and Gabriel have been fantastic, but when Saliba started getting injured, that was when things started going wrong.

“I’m not saying Rob Holding hasn’t performed, but at that level it’s little details that make a big difference so I think he’d be great.

“It all depends on what Arteta has in mind. Will he like to rotate or keep his starting-XI? But it’s tough to stay match-fit as a centre-back. As a forward you get chances to come on more.”

Guehi has been very impressive this season and it would be interesting to see if he could handle the pressure of playing for one of the big clubs in the Premier League.

And the fact that he would add depth to the squad for not alot of money – he could be a very good signing for one of the clubs.

EDU IN RAPHINHA TALKS –

Sporting Director Edu is in talks with Barcelona star Raphinha’s representatives.

After establishing himself as one of the very best wingers in the Premier League over at Leeds – big clubs started circling over the summer for the signature of Raphinha.

Arsenal looked destined to win the race after entering the chase very early – but in the end, it was Barcelona that came calling and convinced Raphinha to make the move to the Camp Nou instead.

The Brazil international has been in superb form with nine goals and 10 assists in 42 appearances so far this season, but it seems that he is one player that the club are willing to let go of.

According to recent reports on AS, Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle United have retained their interest in Raphinha ahead of the summer window and some members of Barca’s board are open to selling the 26-year-old if they receive a significant return on their initial £55m outlay last year.

Now, according to SPORT,  the Gunners’ chief is in “constant contact” with the winger’s camp.

However – the report adds that The 26-year-old could cost around £70million to prise away from the Nou Camp.

Reporter Iomie Stanley believes he could be a solid addition to that Arsenal squad – he told IcFootballnews:Raphinha proved himself to be a brilliant winger in the Premier League with Leeds and if he did come back – he would be a solid addition to that ARSENAL squad if they do decide to reignite their interest in the man.

‘So, now that he has revealed that Arsenal are one of his favourite teams, then that make it easier for the Premier League giants to get a transfer deal done in the next couple of windows.

‘We are sure that Raphinha is a man that Barca will sell, he has not made that impact at the club, he is not a guaranteed starter.’

RAMSDALE TO SIGN UP –

ARSENAL are close to agreeing a new contract with Aaron Ramsdale, it has been claimed in the media this weekend.

This season Mikel Arteta really has got many fans excited – with the Gunners now in second place in the Premier League with just five games to play – although Manchester City are now favourites for that title.

There will be Champions League football next season for Arsenal, no matter if they win the League, and Arteta knows that he will need to add to his squad in order to keep challenging for the titles.

But with the possible new arrivals that could be making a move to the Emirates – there are a number of players in the side that are not up to th standards that Arteta needs to push on, but Ramsdale will not be one of those stars.

The goalkeeper has enjoyed a stunning season with the North Londoners, and has been an instrumental figure of their Premier League title pursuit.

Now, according to the Telegraph, Ramsdale looks set to pen an extension with the Gunners after holding positive talks over a new contract.

Ramsdale fully deserves that new contract at the Emirates as he has been one of the best players as the club – he really has developed into one of the best stoppers in Europe right now.

He has made some massive saves this season that has added quite a few points to the squad and as we said – he fully deserves this new contract.

ARSENAL fans will just be hoping that an announcement is made sooner rather than later – as they will get sick of all the speculation that he could leave if a big club comes calling.

But as we said – he fully deserves this new deal.
