Emery ready to bring defender Maguire to Arsenal in £60 million deal?
There has been some reports which have claimed Arsenal are ready to battle Manchester United to the signature of Harry Maguire.
Arsenal have one of the best attacks in world football and have got to the Europa League final with their ability to score more then they conceded.
However, the back-line is simply not good enough and Unai Emery will need to delve into his transfer kitty and improve the back-line.
And reports on the Sun website have now claimed that Arsenal are ready to rival United for the signature of Maguire.
United have been tracking Maguire all season and were ready to try and complete a transfer deal during the January window, but Leicester did not want to sell the big man and he had no intention of leaving.
But he wants to play in the Champions League and right now United cannot offer that to him, especially as they are so far behind their Premier League rivals, it could take a few seasons for them to get back to their best.
And although Arsenal have so far failed to get back into the Champions League, reports on the Daily Express website have claimed that Arsenal could make a move for the impressive defender.
Maguire is proving that he is ready to make that step up to that next level and signing for the Gunners would give him a shot at the big time.
He is just the type of player that Emery needs to improve the back-line and although the Gunners may ultimately be put off by the £60 million price tag, they would do well to secure a deal.
However, Emery will need more than one defender to help solve his defensive issues at the club and will need all the funds he can to acquire the big names it will take to challenge for the Premier League title next season.
He is a long way off the quality of Liverpool and Manchester City, despite the fact he has taken Arsenal to the Europa league finals.
