Rodgers announces possible Arsenal signing Coutinho ‘will show that he is world class’ ahead of Premier League move
Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers believes Arsenal target Philippe Coutinho would quickly remind everyone of his quality if he returns to the Premier League this summer.
There has been a lot of speculation in the media that Mesut Ozil could be leaving the club in the next couple of windows after failing to impress boss Mikel Arteta, meaning the Gunners will need to add a ready-made creative superstar to the club like Coutinho.
Coutinho made a name for himself at Liverpool as one of the best creative midfielders in the game and Barcelona were determined to acquire his services as the long-term replacement for Andreas Iniesta, but his move to the Camp Nou has not gone down as well as many had hoped and after the arrival of Antoine Griezmann, and he was ultimately shipped out to Bayern on a two-year loan deal.
But now that Bayern have not decided to keep hold of Coutinho, it opens the door for the likes of Arsenal to swoop in and offer him a way back to the Premier League, especially as they could land him on a loan deal.
And now Rodgers has claimed Coutinho would quickly remind everyone of his quality if he returns to the Premier League this summer.
He told the Beautiful Game podcast: “Most people probably look at him and think he’s not for the Premier League, but what a talent.
“He intimidates people when he has the ball with his quality.
“It’s sad to see, I hear people talk him down at the moment. This boy is top and if he comes to this league, he’ll show that. He’s world-class.”
There are a few doubts that Coutinho still has the quality to play at the very highest level so signing him could be a risk, but considering Arsenal need players like him, how could they not decide to make a move and try to sign up the Brazilian.
They would be foolish not to make a move right?
