Arsenal Opinion: Will Premier League powerhouse be good signing for Arteta?

Reports in the media which have claimed Mikel Arteta is ready to sign Manchester United target Issa Diop in the summer, but would he be a good signing?

Mikel Arteta may have delved into that transfer kitty during the January transfer window in order to bring in the likes of Cedrik Soares and Pablo Mari, but there is still a feeling around the media that he will be desperate to add another defender to that back-line.

There is still some doubt about the qualities of David Luiz and Shkodran Maustafi, while there is also a feeling that Sokratis may leave the club if he cannot get back into the habit of playing in the Premier League on a weekly basis in that Arsenal back-line, leading to reports that he is ready to make a move for Diop

The 23-year-old has impressed since his switch to the London Stadium in the summer of 2018, when he joined for £22.5million from Toulouse, and he has made 64 appearances for the Hammers since then, scoring five goals.

And his displays in east London have attracted interest from Arteta, say the Daily Mirror, with Manchester United having also previously shown interest in the centre-back over the past few seasons, but have been put off by the massive £50 million asking price.

Look, There are more concerning things surrounding the thoughts of Arteta right now, and he may not actually be thinking about summer transfers. But there Is not doubt that he needs to improve a back-line that has shipped 51-goals already this season, and Diop is a solid unit.

He is big, powerful and agile and a defender that Arsenal are missing at the back, so for the right amount of money, he could be an absolutely fantastic buy for the Gunners if they do actually decide to make a move and try to get a deal done.

He could be a great buy for the right price guys!
