Brazilian tells Gunners fans Emery ‘has sent representatives’ to complete £36 million Arsenal deal for Everton
Reports have claimed Arsenal boss Unai Emery has reportedly sent representatives to Brazil to conduct a medical on transfer target Everton Soares, ahead of a proposed £36m move to the Emirates Stadium.
The 23-year-old is hot property after scoring three goals to help Brazil to the Copa America title, winning the Golden Boot in the process, with Gunners boss Unai Emery now showing a keen interest in a deal.
He claims to have an offer to quit Gremio amid speculation Arsenal have made an approach for his signature, and according to UOL Esporte, the Gunners opened talks with Everton during the Copa America, which concluded last weekend as Brazil beat Peru in the final.
Everton has now broken his silence on the transfer speculation. He recently said on UOL: ‘Right now I have an offer on the plate, but I can’t say the name of the club in question.
‘Just as I cannot promise that I will be here again on Thursday to play against Bahia. We’ll see.’
Now according Brazilian journalist Sergio Araujo (Via the Daily Express), Arsenal have sent medical staff to Brazil in order to assess the physical condition of transfer target Everton,
Gremio will reportedly only sell Everton if they receive an offer worth at least €40m (£36m), which would eat up a large chunk of Unai Emery’s transfer budget, which is reported to be around the £45 million mark
Now it is no secret that Emery is desperate to improve a number of key areas of the pitch in the coming weeks, especially as he has failed to do any real big business so far this transfer news.
The Spaniard has a decent squad, but not one that is good enough to get back inside the top four this coming season, especially with all their rivals doing some sort of transfer business this summer.
Everton is decent, he has proved that for Brazil, but this could be seen as a panic buy for Arsenal as they are coming to that point in the transfer window that they need to get deals done, and anyone will do right now.
So it will be interesting to see if it is Arsenal that has made a move for Everton, as he could struggle in the Gunners side next season.
