“He’s coming home.” Gunners fans excited after Arsenal drop message ex-midfielder Cazorla making return?
Arsenal fans believe Santi Cazorla is set to return to the Emirates this summer after the Gunners posted a picture of the player alongside a cryptic message.
After six years with the club, Cazorla had become a cult hero at the Emirates as his work-rate, effort and pure ability won over every Gunners fan.
However, a serious injury in 2016 which threatened to wreck his playing career, forced him out of the club during the summer transfer window after failing to agree a new deal with Arsenal, meaning he never managed to give the fans a goodbye that he would have liked.
Cazorla has admitted he wants to return to the Gunners in a possible coaching capacity in the future, however, some Arsenal fans think it could be on the cards this summer after a message was posted on the club’s official Twitter account.
Along with a picture of the club legend, Arsenal posted a short but somewhat cryptic message: “Santi. That’s it. That’s the tweet.”
However, fans were quick to respond and called for the 35-year-old to be reunited with his former team-mate, Mikel Arteta.
One said: “Bring him back already.”
While a second added: “Announce his return. That’s it. That’s the tweet.”
Another added: “He’s coming home.”
It comes just a few weeks after he opened up and admitted that he would like to make a return to the Emirates in the coming years, admitting that he has unfinished business with the Gunners.
The Villarreal midfielder told BBC Sport: “It was frustrating to not be able to say goodbye to a club who treated me so well,” he told BBC Sport. It is something left in my career to say goodbye properly. I am eternally grateful to the club and the fans for the way they continue to treat me.”
Before adding: “If I’m honest I don’t know if I will coach.
“I am undecided what I want to do when I retire. Being a sporting director appeals to me more than coaching but I want to be involved in the game, whatever feels right for me at the time.
“I have no plans in the short term to go anywhere or play abroad but I would never shut those doors. I am focused on ending the season with Villarreal.”
Cazorla was loved by many Arsenal fans during his time with the club and many were very sad to see him leave the club the way he did, but if there is a position for him in the future, then he would be welcomed back.
He has a great football brain, and will be able to offer the talented youngsters at the squad some great advice, so it would be great to see him back at the Arsenal.
