Director gives Arsenal green light to make off for in-demand defender!

Bologna have indicated that they will consider offers for Arsenal target Riccardo Calafiori.

The transfer window will give Mikel Arteta the chance to keep on adding to his squad over the next few months and start to add some more depth to the squad, along with a bit more quality in key areas of the pitch.

A new defender, midfielder, striker and possibly a stopper will need to get signed this summer transfer window – and with the backing of the board – Arsenal have been linked with some big time players already over the past few weeks.

The 22-year-old centre-back played a key role in helping Bologna finish fifth in Serie A last season, which secured their place in the Champions League for the upcoming campaign, and he is a player that Arsenal are very much interested in signing.

And now Bologna’s technical director, Giovanni Sartori, admits Calafiori could move on again if they receive an ‘important’ offer

Bologna technical director Giovanni Sartori told Sky Sports Italia: “There is talk of Juventus but also of many other teams. At this moment we will try to keep him. If important offers were to arrive, we will have to think about it.

“I am not saying that we will sell him because the president has said that he wants to keep the whole team, but we will certainly make some evaluations.

“I do not think he will go to Juventus, he will probably go in a different transfer window, but I repeat that we would like to try to keep him.”

Italian legend Massimo Ambrosini recently urged Arsenal to get a deal done for the star – Speaking to OLBG, Massimo Ambrosini said: “Riccardo Calafiori, from Bologna. He has had an incredible season. For me, he has everything to play at the top level and be in top Premier League squads in the future.

“He can play at centre-back, at left-back and under Thiago Motta in Bologna he started to move into midfield and even play like a striker, he has everything.

“He loves playing with the ball, Bologna were one of the first or second teams in the Italian league for possession so I think ARSENAL would be perfect for him.

“He could play in the middle or on the left, maybe in Oleksandr Zinchenko’s role. It would be perfect for him…”
