Here is a roundup of the top Arsenal news, gossip and transfer latest from icfootballnews that we think you guys may have missed today…
Gunners Paul Merson has urged ARSENAL to avoid paying over the odds for a stop-gap centre-forward and instead pursue a move for Wolves star Matheus Cunha, a player they have been linked with in recent days.
Arsenal have a world class attack that has the ability to score goals on a regular basis, but after injurie were picked up by Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus, there has been alot of talk that a new striker needs to be signed this transfer window.
That has led to alot of speculation about who could be signed by Mikel Arteta, but ex-Arsenal midfielder Merson, speaking on Sky Sports News this week, talked up a potential switch to the Emirates for Cunha.
‘Buying a centre-forward in January, you’re buying someone for the next five years. You’re not buying someone for the next six months, it’s going to be for the next four or five years,’ Merson said.
‘I’d go and buy Cunha, I’d go and get Cunha, because I see that as an all-round package where he can play there for the next five years.
‘I think they’ve got to wait for the centre-forward, don’t rush into that.
‘If Liverpool’s game in hand was now and they won it, Arsenal would be near-on ten points behind… do you have a panic and buy a centre-forward for £70-80m, give them massive wages?
‘You’re not going to win the league this year so you might as well keep your powder dry, hold back and go and get the right person in the summer.’

The transfer window closes in just a weeks time, so if ARSENAL are going to sign a new striker, they need to make sure that a deal is done quickly. Arteta knows what players he needs to improve the side and if he feels that Cunha would improve the side, then we are sure that a move will be made.
ARSENAL WORKING LIKE MAD SIGN STRIKER
Gunners icon David Seaman says he ‘knows for a fact’ that ARSENAL are ‘trying like mad’ to sign a ‘marquee striker’ before the January transfer window closes next week.

Arsenal scored more goals than in any other Premier League season last term as they amassed 89 points, and this season they have netted 43 goals in 22 league games this season – the fourth-most in the English top-flight.
There has been alot of talk in the media that a new striker is something that Arteta wants to bring to Arsenal this transfer window, especially as the likes of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus has picked up injuries in recent weeks.
Now, amid all the speculation and rumours linking Arsenal with a number of players, Seaman says he ‘knows for a fact’ that Arsenal are ‘trying like mad’ to sign a ‘marquee striker’ before the transfer window closes: ‘Everybody is talking about signing a new striker and that does look like what we need,’ Seaman told talkSPORT.
‘It looks like we’re trying to get a striker but to get a marquee striker, the finished article, in January… that doesn’t happen very often.
‘Kai Havertz isn’t an out-and-out striker but he’s scored some important goals. It’s frustrating because I can feel the fans’ frustration growing. There’s a few rumblings now because we’re not where we want to be.
‘I know for a fact that they’re trying like mad to get one but whether it will be now or the summer, I don’t know.
‘There’s ones in the pipeline so we will have to wait and see if they get done.’

ARSENAL FREE SIGN VLAHOVIC
According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, Dusan Vlahovic would ‘enthusiastically welcome the idea’ of leaving Juventus to test himself in the Premier League, with Chelsea and ARSENAL linked with a move

According to a report from Fichajes, the London club is interested in the services of Dusan Vlahovic and they have asked to be kept informed about his situation at Juventus.
Vlahovic has featured 17 times for Juventus in the Serie A this season, scoring seven goals and providing one assist. Playing a key role in Thiago Motta’s team, he’s fired the Old Lady to fifth in the table – and they remain unbeaten.
if he doesn’t agree to sign a new contract offer before the end of the season, the Old Lady will look to sell him in the summer of 2025.
This time next year, clubs from overseas, like Chelsea, will be eligible to open pre-contract talks with the striker over a free transfer in the summer of 2026 – unless, of course, he signs a new contract beforehand.
But if you believe the latest reports, then Vlahovic is very open to the idea of leaving Seria A and making the move to the Premier League.

Vlahovic is a quality striker that has all the ability to be a brilliants Premier League forward, so if he is interested in a move to England, then this would be a good option for the likes of ARSENAL
The Gunners have a world class attack that is struggling for goals, so if there is a chance to sign Vlahovic this January transfer window, then he could be the answer to the Gunners striking issues.
Mikel Arteta needs someone like Vlahovic in the side, he would give that attack something different between now and the end of the season
