President issues firm £85 million transfer message to Arsenal if they still wants goal-machine!
Sporting Lisbon have once again mad it very clear that long-term ARSENAL transfer target Victor Gyokeres will cost alot more than what clubs will be willing to pay in the upcoming transfer windows.
Swede Gyokeres has been a major hit in Portugal since joining Sporting from Coventry in July 2023 and become one of the most dangerous strikers in World football, hitting 43 goals for the club last season.
He was a player that ARSENAL were very heavily linked with signing during the summer window, but his massive asking price was a real problem for the Gunners, and in the end, the decision was not made to make a move for the striker.
But now the Gunners have been warned that clubs will still have to pay big money in order to sign Gyokeres in the future: Varandas said via Record: “I’ve seen inferior players being transferred for over 100m (euros) great players for under 100m (£85m).
“Sporting is happy to have Viktor and he is happy here. During the transfer market, there wasn’t a day without news saying that Viktor was leaving.
“The transfer market closed and these questions continue. But hey, we live with it and that’s how it will be.”
Varandas added: “We have a strong team, Viktor knows that he is well supported by two stars like Pote (Pedro Gonçalves) and (Francisco) Trincão. Morten is very humble. Sporting has a highly valued group today.
“I don’t remember having such a valuable squad, in terms of assets. Now, if we are going to surpass our rivals, it will be on the pitch.”

Look, Gyokeres is a quality striker that could have been a great signing for ARSENAL – he will come at a risk for many clubs as the Premier League is alot better than the Portuguese League.
But with the new financial rules – it will be interesting to see if clubs are willing to pay that big money for the player.
