Italian announces if La Liga star is moving on deadline day after Arsenal talks held
Arsenal have reportedly been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Ivan Fresneda with the right-back set to remain at Real Valladolid until the summer.
The Gunners have been heavily linked with a move for the 18-year-old this month in a potential £13million deal – as Mikel Arteta wants to keep adding to his squad by the end of the transfer window.
Borussia Dortmund have also been touted as a possible destination for the teenager, but it was Mikel Arteta’s side that were believed to be leading the race.
Fresneda has enjoyed a breakthrough season in Vallodolid’s return to LaLiga where he has featured in 12 games in all competitions. Reports have claimed Arsenal have spoken to the player’s representatives over a transfer, but it appears they will have to wait until the end of the campaign to secure his services.
Commenting on the saga, Italian reporter Fabrizio Romano tweeted: “Understand Ivan Fresneda will stay at Valladolid in January unless there are twists in the final hours.
“Arsenal & Borussia Dortmund wanted Spanish talented RB but deal was never done, Fresneda now expected to stay and help Valladolid.
“Next step: top club move in the summer.”

The lad is very talented and would certainly add a bit more depth to that Gunners squad – however, signing him now or at the end of the season would not make much of a difference.
He is not yet quite ready to command a regular starting spot at the Emirates – and may not be for another couple of seasons – so the Gunners will only be upset if they miss out on him in the summer transfer window.
