Arsenal fans see exciting Brazilian Guimaraes complete £17 million move after statement gets released

Arsenal have missed the chance to sign 22-year-old midfielder Bruno Guimaraes from Brazilian side Athletico-PR.

With Mikel Arteta seeking to do a whole load of transfer business during this transfer window, there had been a lot of speculation in the media about whom could be arriving by January the 31st.

And reports in the media suggested that ARSENAL were said to be following Guimaraes with a view to a possible deal earlier in the transfer window but were put off by the massive £43 million asking price for the Brazilian, despite reports in the media suggesting that Arsenal’s technical director Edu was due to hold talks in London with representatives of Guimaraes.

However, with a whole load of clubs also interested in the highly-rated Brazilian, Arsenal’s inability to wrap up transfer deals has now means that they have missed out on the singing of Grimaraes this transfer window.

French side Lyon confirmed the £17m signing, with the Brazilian signing a four-and-a-half year contract.

A Lyon statement read: “Olympique Lyonnais is very pleased to announce the transfer of the captain of the Brazilian Olympic side, Bruno Guimaraes, for a fee in the amount of €20 million to which may be added a 20% sell-on fee.”

Look, if Arsenal seriously wanted to sign the young Brazilian they probably could have, but it is surprising to see that he has joined Lyon for a very small fee, especially as the Brazilians were asking so much from the English giants.

But now ARSENAL will get an opportunity to see just how Grimaraes does in Europe, and if he impresses over the next few years, then they could reignite their interest and make a move in the coming years, AS HE WILL SURELY DEVELOP AT THE French side.
