Midfielder announces ‘he hopes’ brilliant Frenchman completes Arsenal transfer move

Former Arsenal star Matteo Guendozi wants William Saliba to join him at Marseille on a permanent basis.
The defender signed for Arsenal in 2019 after establishing himself as one of the best young talents in the game, but is yet to make an appearance for the Gunners after going on three different loan spells.
The 21-year-old has enjoyed a successful season in Ligue 1 with his performances earning him a call up to the France national team, subsequently earning his first cap earlier this year.
Saliba is due to return to north London at the end of the season to fight for a starting spot under Mikel Arteta, and there is a massive feeling that he needs to be given a chance in the side
But Guendozi would like his former Arsenal pal to remain with him at Marseille – He said: “I hope William stays here. He’s having a great season, he deserves everything that has happened to him.
“He’s a great guy outside, he’s had a lot of great games.”

Look, there has been many rumours about the future of the player and whether or not he should be given a chance in that Gunners side. But if Arteta sits him down and says look: you will not be the first choice and will have to fight – he may not fancy it
Arteta has used Ben White and Gabriel as his centre-back pairing for the majority of the season with Rob Holding also filling in, so he has a settled pairing that has been impressing
So it will be interesting to see just how this all plays out as Saliba has a career that is now on the rise – he is in the French squad too – and making a move back to the Emirates to sit on the bench will not be the right decision to make
He is a brilliant talent and has a very big future in the game – his next choice is a massive one
