Thank you Barcelona? Unai Emery to sign £50m Frenchman for nothing as Spaniards end chase!
Arsenal have been boosted as Barcelona have cooled their interest in Adrien Rabiot.
Rabiot is leaving the French giants at the end of the season after failing to agree a new contract, with many reports suggesting the midfielder wanted a lot more money than what PSG were prepared to offer.
And that led to speculation that Arsenal were ready to battle Barcelona and Liverpool for his services, as Gunners boss Unai Emery looked to sign a cheap alternative to Aaron Ramsey, who has decided to depart the side and sign for Italian Champions Juventus on a £400,000-a-week deal.
But Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo claim the Catalan club have grown impatient with waiting to hear back from his representatives, and may start to look elsewhere over the next few months, which leaves Arsenal with a great chance of trying to wrap up a transfer deal for Rabiot.
Rabiot and Emery worked together at PSG during the Spaniards brief spell with the French Champions and would be keen to work with the Arsenal boss once again, as he excelled under the guidance of the Spaniard.
Would Rabiot be a good signing for Arsenal?
Rabiot is certainly a very gifted midfielder that does have all the qualities to e a huge player for the Gunners for the next five-seasons, and considering he would be signing for the club on a free, well it would be a bargain.
The Gunners have made some dodgy transfer decisions over the past few seasons that many have questioned, but if they missed out on landing this man for nothing at the end of the season when they may have to spend £50-60 million for an alternative, it would be another bad bit of business by the club.
Rabiot wants around £8.7 million a year on wages, which is nothing in the world of football so they need to step up and try to get a deal done, as the Frenchman would certainly help fill the void which will be left by Ramsey when he leaves the club.
