Bayern Munich out of chase as Arsenal close in on deal for 22-goal hitman Pepe?
Bundesliga reporter Christian Falk has told the likes of Arsenal that Bayern Munich are no longer interested in Nicolas Pepe.
With the season coming to a close and the Gunners attention focusing on next season, there has been a lot of transfer speculation in the media over the past few months on whom they will look to try and acquire in the transfer window.
And one name that has been mentioned about a possible move to the Premier League is that of Pepe, as the 23-year-old Pepe is among the most highly-rated forwards in Europe and his transfer value is estimated at more than 50 million euros (£57 million).
Pepe has scored 22 goals and created 11 assists in all competitions this season and has been tipped to become one of the most deadly strikers in the game, with Arsenal boss Unai Emery a big fan.
However, it seemed that the Gunners were all set to lose out in the chase to land the talented hitman as reports in the media all suggested that he want a big move to Bayern Munich this summer.
But in a boost to Unai Emery and his chase, Falk has told Arsenal that Munich are no longer interested in Pepe.
“Pepe – they scouted him a lot of times, I know that the board had said no to a transfer because he’s not the quality of Bayern Munich, but if they don’t get any winger, perhaps they have to rethink Pepe. But I would say no,” Falk told Get German Football News.
Pepe is showing great potential and is just the sort of young striker that could develop into something special, if he makes the right career move and the fact the Premier League giants are seeking a deal, means he will have options.
Pepe is destined for the big time and his £75 million price tag could be a big investment for any club that signs him, it will just be a case of whom offers the club and the player the most, as money talks in football right now.
However, Arsenal should be focusing on improving the defensive side of the squad as Emery already has a top-class attack that doe snot need much improving in the summer window.
