£100 million rated Dembele wants Sokratis lin-up at Arsenal as fans get excited over latest rumour
Unhappy Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele has reportedly dropped a hint that he is willing to make a move to Arsenal this summer.
Arsenal have been linked with a move for the Frenchman in recent weeks, as speculation continues to surround his future in Spain after enduring a turbulent first season at the Nou Camp after leaving Borussia Dortmund last summer.
The youngster suffered a serious hamstring injury during his first weeks at Barcelona, and struggled to regain his place in Ernesto Valverde’s first team in the second half of the season, leading to talk that he was no longer wanted and Barca were ready to cash in.
Now, after Unai Emery admitted that he would only delve back into his transfer kitty for a special player, the France international has now hinted at a stunning move to the Emirates.
According to the Daily Express website, tThe player commented on a picture of Sokratis, saying ‘big papa’, and fans seem to think his message to his old Borussia Dortmund team-mate may lead to an Arsenal move.
Reports have claimed Dembele is keen to link up with his former Captain after they formed a strong bond during their time in the Bundesliga, where Sokratis was the leader the Frenchman liked to look upto.
However, Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu has suggested landing the services of Dembele this summer will not be an easy task as they still have high hopes for Dembele.
“[Philippe] Coutinho, Dembele are for us a big investment,” he recently said on the Sky Sports website.
“They are very important players that we expect from them a lot.
“Coutinho probably in the last four months has been very active for the team. But Dembele is a very young player, a very talented player that we are, of course, expecting from him a lot. He’s been demonstrating during the season that he’s a good young player for us. But, of course, next season will be different.
“It’s not easy to play in Barcelona the first year because the model of football is quite different from the rest. But after one year I’m sure we are going to see Dembele and Coutinho at a very high level.”
Dembele is one of those players can could be brilliant one minute and then terrible the next, so the Gunners should watch how he develops over the next 12 months before splashing out over £100 million to nail down his signature.
