Arsenal ‘have held positive talks’ to sign up impressive £60 million man
ARSENAL have held positive talks with defender Ben White over an improved contract, it has been revealed.
Since his move from Brighton just a few seasons ago – White has developed into a player that Mikel Arteta can really rely on and a star that has the ability to play in a couple of positions.
White’s current deal at Arsenal is up in 2026 – but the Gunners are keen to make sure that he is rewarded for the good performances he has put in that Arsenal shirt and Sky Sports News understands there is a willingness from all parties to come to an agreement.
Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s live on Sky clash with Newcastle, Gunners manager Mikel Arteta said on White’s 100th appearance for the club: “He’s progressed in the right way in the last few years. He had a difficult start which is normal, it was a big jump, different expectations.
“He showed a lot of determination and courage to overcome that. He’s got a big personality, copes with pressure really well and has a lot of quality in different position.
“He’s a really good character, the way he is and how he presents himself. He loves football, the way he trains, applies himself and plays the game in a top way.”
And on a potential new deal for the defender, Arteta added: “We’re always trying to keep the squad in a healthy position, and we’re working on that.”
