Arsenal icon Theo Walcott has welcomed new signing Riccardo Calafiori to the club on social media.
The Italian defender signed from Bologna on Monday, penning a five-year deal with ARSENAL after months of speculation and rumours about his future after an impressive season with the Italian side.
Mikel Arteta was desperate to add a bit more depth to the side before the end of the transfer window and Calafiori was seen as the ideal player to come in and add some much needed depth to the back-line.
And after seeing the move happen – Walcott posed for a selfie with Calafiori in the USA, sharing the snap to Instagram with the caption: “Welcome to the @arsenal family @richycala.”
Calafiori has revealed he dreamt about joining the Gunners for a decade before completing his £42million transfer from Bologna – He said: “It feels amazing. It was tough until now but finally we’re here and I cannot wait to train with the team and play for the fans.
“It’s actually been my dream since I was 12 or 13, because I can see the level of the league here and the best players in the world, for me, play here.
“It’s a dream. I spoke a lot with the coach and with Edu, and they convinced me — but I was already convinced by myself.”

There is alot of hype about Calafiori and what he can bring to ARSENAL over the next few seasons – but he is certainly a very good defender that will add quality to that Gunners side.
This is another good bit of business by that Arsenal board – but there is sill time left in the transfer window to add a few more players and fans will surely be hoping that a couple more faces make the move to London.
But again – this is a great signing by Arsenal
ARSENA WANT SANE –
Arsenal have been told that signing Leroy Sane would close the gap on champions Manchester City.
Sane has developed into one of the best attackers in the Bundesliga over the past few seasons after making the decision to Leave Man City for the Bundesliga, but there has been alot of speculation regarding his immediate future.
The German has been in contract talks with Bayern for quite some time now, but has failed to agree a new deal with the club, meaning that Bayern chiefs are ready to cash in one of their best players.
The likes of Man City, Liverpool and even Newcastle have been linked with a move for Sane over the past transfer window, but now the Spanish media have suggested ARSENAL are considering a swoop for the flying winger, who has just 12 months left on his contract.
There is a belief that the German international could be signed for a reduced fee because of that.
And reporter Iomie Stanley reckons Sane would be quality additions – he “Sane is a world class winger that will bring quality and competition for Martinelli and Saka.
“They have a lot of games to play next season and Mikel Arteta knows that he probably needs to add a few more game-changing players – and Sane is just that.’

The fact that Sane has not agreed a new contract at Bayern will give all the chasing clubs a massive chance to get a deal done in the next few weeks, as Bayern will not want to lose the man on a free deal.
ARSENAL have so many quality midfielders at the club, and will need to sign a striker, but adding Sane to the side would be a brilliant addition to the squad as he is already proven at the highest level of the game.
He is a game-changer and a game-winner and a player that could thrive in the system that Mikel Arteta likes to employ on a weekly basis
JORGINHO SENDS CALAFIORI MESSAGE –
Jorginho has revealed what new summer signing Riccardo Calafiori will bring to Arsenal after completing his move.
Jorginho knows Calafiori very well from their days in the National side and the midfielder has revealed he was impressed by the 22-year-old’s abilities, and once he heard that we were interested in bringing him to north London, he quickly messaged Riccardo to try and persuade him that here is where his future lay.
“It’s a really good signing,” he said. “He’s a really good young player that will give a lot to the team. He’s a very professional guy, he is hungry to learn and humble. He has a lot to add and grow and learn and I think it’s going to be a good connection.
“To be fair I didn’t know him that much but when I got to know him and see him up close, it’s been great. He has great qualities.
“I sent him a few messages while we were there at the tournament and I spoke with him and said if he wants to take himself to the next level and grow, this is the right place for him to go.
“It’s nice to have a fratello here! We always try to help each other here and that’s what we’re going to do with him as well to make sure he feels at home straight away. It’s great that he’s here, hopefully he enjoys it and we’ll achieve big things together.”
